National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross(YRC) jointly organised a Webinar on NEED OF THE HOUR! COVID VACCINATION on 5th June 2021. Dr.S.Rajeswari, Gynaecologist, Consultant Obstetrician, Preventive oncologist and Colposcopy Specialist and Dr. D. Prasanna, DNB Medicine, MD Microbiology, Consultant Physician, Consultant Microbiologist, Trichy Govt Medical College, were the resource persons for the event. The doctors clearly explained the importance of taking COVID 19 Vaccine now, through various examples, the number of vaccines available in our country, also stressed the point that it reduces mortality rates, and requested all the volunteers and other participants to take the available vaccine, and not to go by brands. The participants raised their doubts on getting vaccinated, promised to get vaccinated and motivate others to get vaccinated. Nearly 70 participants benefitted out of this programme.
National Service Scheme organised an E-Quiz Competition on the account of World Blood Donor Day, 14th June 2021.
Objective: to create awareness of Donating Blood and how it saves someone’s life.
The Online Quiz was open to all for two days from 14th June to 16th June 2021, thus recorded 368 responses. All the participants who scored above 55% were provided with an e-certificate.
National Service Scheme Organised a Webinar on 21st June 2021, on account of International Yoga Day, “YOGA: THE BEST PRACTICE FOR BETTER TOMORROW” Mr. Nirmal Kumar, M.Sc Yoga, M.Sc Psychology, M.Phil Yoga, a Yoga Instructor at Yoga Payanam, was the Guest Speaker for the day. The resource briefly explained the need to practise yoga so as to get relief from any kind of stress which is prevailing now as a result of this pandemic, and also for a healthy tomorrow. He also stressed the point that Yoga provides solutions for any kind of health related problems. The instructor asked us to practise 6 simple breathing exercises, which keep our lungs, body and mind relaxed, and also for proper blood circulation. The volunteers were made to do those simple exercises so as to make them feel actively involved in the session. The session ended with a few clarifications as to when should we practise yoga, how it manages menstrual pains, removing irregularity of the menstrual cycle, nearly 40 participants benefitted from this programme. Ms. AP.Vidhya, a volunteer presented a PPT on the origin, methods and benefits of Yoga which was appreciated by the speaker and the audience.
World Breastfeeding Week is an annual celebration which is held every year from 1 to 7 August in more than 120 countries. According to the 26 August data of WBW website, 540 events have been held worldwide by more than 79 countries with 488 organizations. This year, for WBW 2021, WABA has selected the theme: Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility. Anchor breastfeeding support as a vital public health responsibility. Engage with individuals and organizations for greater impact. Galvanize action on protecting breastfeeding to improve public health.
About Our Campaign:
CTTE National Service Scheme Volunteers Organised, a Social Media Campaign to Spread awareness on World Breastfeeding Awareness week. As we know, WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging apps across the globe today. So, Volunteers took up the responsibility to share the message through whatsApp stories.
Methodology:
The information were communicated in the form of E-Posters, Voiceover Videos etc., The Contents of the videos and E-Posters were verified by WHO(World Health Organisation). Once the Poster and videos are ready, will be posted in the NSS Volunteers Official WhatsApp Group. Volunteers will be posting stories.

Day – 5
The Fifth Day, on 5th August 2021, Kirthika Devi of B.Sc(Mathematics) made a E-Poster, with content of Facts about the babies (stages of hunger) which every newborns mother should be aware of. This Content is very important that, Babies crying is the later sign of hunger which many of them are not aware of!
Day – 6
Sixth Day, on 6th August 2021, Virmilion.V of B.Com(CS), made an E-Poster on Breastfeeding during Covid-19.
Day -7
The last day of the Campaign, on 7th August 2021 , Shalini.S of lll B.Com(General) prepared an Awareness video for breastfeeding mother’s for 30 seconds and the voice-over was given by D.Grace Deborah of ll BA English.
NSS and Greater Chennai Corporation jointly organized 2 days awareness programme on COVID-19 for teaching faculty, administrative staff and non-teaching staff. Mr. Issac Arul Kumar, District Health Educator, IEC team, Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Govt. of Tamil Nādu was the resource person. He gave a detailed presentation about the history, cause, symptoms and prevention of covid-19 and boosted the participants with self-awareness of the pandemic issue prevalent in the present situation. He also created awareness on another deadly Nipah virus, cases registered in Kerala and Dengue cases that have started registering in Tamil Nādu, the precautionary measures to be taken so as to reduce the cases. He also spoke about the necessity of getting vaccinated, and also to carry the vaccination certificate in case of any travel that cannot be avoided and to strictly follow the protocol wherever we move. He also inspected the college campus to check for any stagnant water that may cause Dengue, and also instructed us to remove all the unwanted plastic items where the water was collected after the rain that will lead to the breeding of mosquitoes that will cause Dengue. As it was a 2-day awareness programme the teaching faculty was divided so as to strictly follow the precautionary measures of covid19. Around 100 staff benefited from this programme.
“Still Waters Breed Death: Stop Dengue” As we all know Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease occurring in tropical and subtropical areas. Those who became infected with the virus a second time are at a significantly greater risk of developing severe disease. We have recorded that there has been a great risk of such a disease in our surrounding areas. So, preventing such a disease that causes distress illness, Volunteers of the CTTE NSS club distributed “Nilavembu Kashayam” on our campus for all staffs, students and parents on September 9, 2021. We hope that by our small step taken by this awareness campaign, we achieved our most important objective in our local surroundings.
National Service Scheme organized a webinar on 15th September 2021 on account of International Democracy Day. Mr.S.Baskar, Director of "Baskar Education" was the guest speaker for the day. The Resource Person has briefly explained our role in the nation's democracy and highlighted various laws framed in our Constitution and also gave an overview of the Individual Human Rights Act". The resource person made the session more interactive by quoting case laws and clarifying students' doubts about the Human Rights Act. Nearly 30 volunteers benefitted from this programme.
The Club also conducted an E-Quiz Competition on account of International Democracy Day, observed every year on 15th September 2021. The main objective of the Competition is to gain more information on Democracy. This E-Quiz was open to all, for two days from 15th September to 16th September 2021, thus recorded with 77 responses. All the participants who scored above 55% were provided with e-certificate, the e-certificate were designed by our NSS Volunteer Ms.Supritha.R, Quiz questions were prepared by a NSS Secretary, who also transferred to google forms thus making it easy for other participants to know their scores immediately, e-certificates were generated after the collection of all responses. Through these competitions, we acquire knowledge about important dates that we need to remember, the significance of being observed, and the personalities who were behind them.
National Service Scheme and Sembium Police Department together organized an awareness Programme on COVID-19 on 20th September, 2021. Mrs. Gomathi, Inspector of K1. Sembium Police Station was our guest speaker for the day. The Guest briefed us about various safety measures that we should follow in our daily life in order to prevent ourselves from the deadly virus, precautionary measures to be taken like wearing mask, using sanitizers, maintaining social distance etc. The resource person concluded on women's safety by making the volunteers about the various efforts taken by this Department in public safety. She also highlighted the need of installing the ‘Kavalan App’ on student's android mobile and how it helps the Police to trace who is in need of emergency service, and also requested the volunteers to be bold and approach the Department when they are in trouble.
On 20th September 2021, Our National Service Scheme Volunteers distributed Deworming Tablets to the students as per the instructions given by the Government. A team of Government officials came to the college and handed over the Deworming tablets in office and asked the NSS volunteers to distribute the same as there was a widespread coronavirus.
National Service Scheme arranged for a Tree Plantation Programme, as a part of celebrating NSS Day. This year on September 24, 2021, as we celebrate 75 years of Independence-Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NSS Volunteers planted 10 saplings on the college campus. Our respected Vice Principal Dr.R. Meenakshi inaugurated the Programme by planting a sapling near the stone bench, Mrs. Mercy Silvester, Dean of students & Head, Department of B.Com(Corporate Secretaryship ) and Mrs.R.Rajalakshmi, Head, Department of Commerce planted saplings near canteen area and Dr.A.Kasthuri NSS Programme Officer also planted sapling near the Lecture Hall, and our Volunteers also participated in this great event. Two volunteers were given one sapling each for maintenance. All the saplings that are planted and are named ‘Pungam’, as it gives more oxygen and that was the only reason to choose this particular Tree. This Tree Plantation Programme was initiated by the University of Madras, that every college should plant one Tree on the college campus, and to be maintained by a volunteer, each college was given a number for the Tree, the allotted number was 2877for our college, and also to place a guard with specifications. Geo-tag photos were taken to record the event, volunteers participated with great enthusiasm. Nearly 20 volunteers took part in this special event.
On 2nd week of October CTTE NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME organised events on “Youth Awakening Day” in remembrance of Bharat Ratna Dr.A.P.J.Abdhul kalam. The first day of event was organised on 11th october 2021 in this day we have conducted essay competition (கட்டுரை போட்டி) for the students, on the topic அப்துல் கலாம் அவர்களின் அரசியல் சாதனைகளும் அறிவியல் சாதனைகளும் (Abdul kalam avargalin arasiyal sadhanaigalum ariviyal sadhanaigalum). In this event, 14 students have participated. The second day of the event was organised on 12th October 2021(12/10/2021) in this day we conducted an elocution competition (பேச்சு போட்டி) for the students, on the topic காலத்தை வென்ற கலாம் (kalaithai vendra kalam). In this event, 20 students participated-6 competitors and the rest 14 as the audience. The third, fourth & fifth day of events was organised on the 13th, 14th & 15th October 2021 on those days we played kalvi tv program in remembrance of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul kalam via gmeet.
National Service Scheme (NSS) team organized cleanliness drive under "Clean India Campaign" for a week from 26/10/2021 - 30/10/2021. The main objective of this campaign is to collect wastages and plastic disposals from public places, houses, etc... in order to make India a clean and healthy country. To achieve this objective, we organised a street play with 15 volunteers on the topic of "cleanliness" to create awareness to avoid wastage and to reduce the usage of plastics in our daily life. We supported in cleaning and organising the books and other equipment in Departments, Labs and classrooms, strictly following all the covid protocols. We had also planned a massive Beach cleaning but due to natural causes could not carry out the said work as per schedule.
On the occasion of the Indian Constitution Day on 26th November 2021, an online interactive forum discussion session was organized by National Social Service (NSS)on the topic of Rights of Women, more than 60 NSS volunteers participated in this program, introductory remarks above the topic were made by the adviser of the discussion forum Dr.A.Kasuthri, following which a range of question, comments and observation was made by the participants. Out of this rich intellectually stimulating discourse emerged dealing with the subject matter in both historical and contemporary perspectives. At the end of the session, the lecture was followed by intensive questions and answers in which students engaged enthusiastically.
The National Service Scheme Volunteers gathered to pay tribute to General BIPIN RAWAT Chief General, Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces and other soldiers who died in a helicopter crash on 8th December 2021. The prayer meeting was arranged on 11.12.2021 in the college campus at 9.00 am around 20 students participated & prayed for lost lives. The Entire College observed 2 minutes of silence, as a mark of respect. Our college Vice -Principal Dr.R. Meenakshi, Dean of Students Mrs.Mercy Silvester and the college council lit the candles to pay homage.
Trees our saviour
The National service scheme of Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women organized a webinar on TREES -OUR SAVIOUR. It was organized by the Eco club in association with NSS. The Resource Person is DR.R.NAGARANI (Assistant Professor of Tamil and NSS officer Shri Shankar Lal Sundarbai Sasun Jain College for Women.
TREE PLANTING
The National service scheme in association with the Eco club of chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women arranged tree planting programme on 20 December 2021 in the college campus at 9.30 am. Our dear Principal DR.S.SRIDEVI and our vice Principal DR.R.MEENAKSHI and NSS volunteers jointly participated and planted trees.
Totally 30 volunteers including students from Eco club were present in the campus around 9.30 am and carried out the work, with all precautionary measures of covid -19. 35 saplings, were planted inside the campus, the 1st sapling was planted by our dear Principal DR. S. Sridevi and Vice Principal Dr. R. Meenakshi and followed by our NSS volunteers in the allotted place.

Report:
Day 1:
NSS special camp started it's journey from college campus around 11 am and reached the destination (Siruvapuri) at 12 noon, had lunch and started meeting the residents and informed about NSS special camp stay here for 7 days. Evening, started preparing charts and planned the next day's activities for celebrating women's day.
Day 2:
NSS Conducted Sports for Sholavaram Panchayat, Chinnambedu Primary School. The following events like Lemon & Spoon, frog race, musical chain, running race were arranged by NSS volunteers Prizes were distributed to the winners by Dr.S.Sridevi (Principal of CTTE college for Women). A cultural programme was also arranged as a part of the Women's Day Celebration Ms. Kayasree ( II BBA ) & Ms. Nivedha ( II BBA ) perform solo dance, and Ms. Lavanya ( II BBA ) recited a poem to the school students. We all gathered and had lunch with our dear Principal shared our Experience with her and enjoyed the afternoon Around 4 pm, we all divided into groups to inform residents about Rangoli competition Then we made charts for next day Rally.
Day 3:
Morning NSS celebrated 75 years of Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav), as a part of this celebration we started a really from chinnambedu to Ambedkar Nagar. We conveyed about power of staying United, road safety measures to be undertaken etc., also explained the need of vaccination, usage of masks, sanitizers for over coming the period. In the evening we discussed and prepared questions to be raised to farmers.
Day 4:
NSS volunteers started with temple street cleaning. Volunteers removed the garbage and helped the vegetable vendors about personal hygiene and about keeping the society clean. Volunteers performed a street play on the topic 'cleanliness', nearly 10 volunteers joined to perform this street play.
Day 5:
We started our day with perumal temple cleaning and also planted few saplings their requested them to take care of the plants. The residents joined hands with us to clean the temple. Mr. Sekar (Vice President) of Chinnambedu Grama panchayat addressed the volunteers, about the history of this temple. Around 4.30 pm after tea break volunteers gathered for a field visit. They got into the tractor for sight-seeing, also got into the farmland and experienced the seedling planting, then took us to nearly lake back around 7 pm. We returned to plan for the next day's programme.
Day 6:
Makkal TV Channel arrived 8:30 am at Kalathumedu, the farmers gathered, and started the session with a welcome speech given by Ms. Kayashree (II BBA) followed by interaction session volunteers raised questions relating to organic farming, need for using fertilizers, soil suitability for each crops and methodology of growing each crop. In the evening volunteers engaged in the cleaning of the temple followed by Kaviarangu. We invited Mr. Nagaraj advocate to be the judge for articles and poems written by volunteers on the topic "Pasumai". We received 6 articles and poems on the above topic and each of them were given opportunity to read the same in front of the audience. In the end, gifts were distributed to all the volunteers for their involvement in all activities during the camp.
Day 7
Valedictory programme volunteers were asked to give feedback about this camp and also to share their experiences we started from Siruvapuri at 11 am and reached the campus 12 noon.
On 17th September 2021, Our National Service Scheme Volunteers distributed Kabasura Kudineer to all students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff of our college to prevent Covid-19.
On September 23, 2021 An E – Quiz was conducted to the students on the topic of “National Education Policy”, the motive is to make the students aware of the reforms for students, teachers,and schools. The Government had replaced the 34 year -old National Policy on Education, framed in 1986, with the National Education Policy of 2020.
NSS along with Dr.Agarwals Eye Hospital and Eye Clear Opticals jointly organised a Mega Eye Camp for two days on 19.03.2022 and 21.03. 2022. The primary objective of organising this Eye Camp is that during pandemic, most of the students and the general public switched their learning and work to mobile and it affected their vision. We invited the general public and nearby school students to make use of this eye camp and get a free consultation at Dr.Agarwal Eye Hospital. Free coupons were also distributed to all those who registered for eye camp. As the response was very good, we extended the camp for one more day. 489 benefitted from this eye camp. We provided free glasses, recommended 2 persons for free cataract surgeries.
On account of celebrating 75 years of Independence, NSS Volunteers gathered at Marina Beach and performed Street Play. The Objective of Street Play is to create an awareness on how we should protect our nation from enemity, and also to remember the sacrifices made by our responsibility to stay united all the time.
On 29th september 2021 CTTE NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME organized a webinar on POSHAAN ABHIYAAN. This campaign was organized for the students to get benefited about this webinar. Totally 43 members have been benefited by this webinar. The Chief guest the resources person Mr. Vignesh Vignette took over the webinar.
The National Service Scheme Volunteers arranged a webinar on account of national girl child day on 24th January 2022. the resource person was Dr. Thasleem Banu, assistant professor dep of Hindi, CTTEcollege for women. She highlighted about the various schemes for welfare of the girl child in India such as CBSE Udaan scheme, Mukhyamantri kanya Suraksha yojana etc., she also spoke about girl child education and its importance, promoting awareness of issues like education, nutrition, child marriage and medical care. The objective of such scheme and webinar is to ensure that every girl child gets the required human rights. She concluded the session by throwing light on women's empowerment for a successful tomorrow.
National Service Scheme Celebrated National Voters Day by organising Paper Presentation on the Topic “Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy” 4 Volunteers Presented their paper and explained in detail about the topic. By conducting competitionS, volunteers can understand the significance of each day celebrated, thus making us more responsible citizen.
On 19th April 2022, NSS was given the duty to plan for seating for College Day. More than 50 Volunteers reported in the morning around 7 am and started with seating arranagements for Guest, Students, Parents and staff.
On 28th July, 2021 CTTE National Service Scheme organised an E-Quiz Competition on account of World Nature Conservation Day,to create awareness on Nature Conservation and ways to protect it. 79 participants have responded to the E- Quiz from Various colleges and schools in and around Chennai and Thiruvallur. The Questions and Invite were prepared by H.Mageshwariand uploading questions in Google form was done by VirmilionAglow Mary.
