The Department of French celebrated French Day on 18.04.2022 by conducting Intra-departmental competitions to encourage both Basic and Advanced learners to participate and enrich their speaking and listening skills. First, second and third year students from various departments enthusiastically participated and won prizes. At the end Mrs. Sandhya Mohanan Assistant Professor, Department of French announced the winners of the competition.
Department of French conducted a Panel Discussion on 06.04.2022 on the author Émile Zola about his novel Germinal. II year students from various Departments B.Com CS, B.Sc Computer Science, Psychology, BA English participated in the panel discussion and shared their views about the author’s life, career and works. Mrs. Sandhya Mohanan wrapped up the discussion with her views on Zola.

March 8 is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The Department of French of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women celebrated International Women's day on 8th March. The Speech was given by Miss Nivedha Priya 2nd B.Com CS. on women's motivation and achievements.
Webinar on “Apprenons le français à travers les histoires “ on 20.01.2021 through google meet from 10.30 to 11.30 AM .The Guest speaker of this webinar was Dr Shoba Lisa John, Assistant Professor and Head, Dept of French and Additional Languages Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, Cochin. This webinar was about learning French through stories. The Guest Speaker first let the students know the words related to the story in English and then translated into French. So it was easy for students to understand the Story. Then she displayed pictures related to the story and asked the students to frame their own story. Later students were given chances to explain their stories. After the story explanation students were asked to role play the same story with different characters' names. Students learned new words and gained some ideas to improve their Language through reading stories. The session was interactive and understanding, students enthusiastically participated.
Christmas Day Celebration organised by the Department of Languages, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women enchanted the Faculty members and students with their amazing talents, who gathered near the lawn with great enthusiasm to celebrate the fest. Sophie D' Costa, Jessica. E and Pauline Christina. S I B.Sc. Psychology fascinated the crowd with their French Carols. The French students from II B. Com CS amused the viewers with their cool dance performance. The air was filled with tranquillity and laughter as the Christmas Greetings resounded in the campus.
The Department of French, Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women celebrated Halloween Day on 03.11.2021 through Google meet from 5.00 to 6.00 PM.
Halloween Day is celebrated each year on October 31. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Speech – R. Rekha (II B.Com CS.), Halloween Invitation prepared by P. Saranya (II B.Sc Computer Science), Quiz and Video presentation about Halloween day and its importance, culture and about history was given by P. Saranya(II B.Sc Computer Science). Both first and second year students of B.Sc Psychology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Maths, BCA, B.A English, B.Com Corporate Secretary, A & F, General, BBA participated enthusiastically. All students were so excited and actively participated in the quiz, they all also shared their views on halloween celebration.
French National Day was observed on 14 July 2021 by students of I & II years in Google meet. Bastille Day is a day of celebrations of French culture. A raft of exceptional events like video presentations on the French revolution, songs (in French) and a speech took place on the day which made this anniversary an especially festive one among the students.
The French Music festival was observed on 19 June 2021 by students of I & II years via Google Meet. During the fest, the Department proudly witnessed the students’ artistic prowess. The cultural events in the French Music festival consisted of various music performances. However, the highlight of the day was the various games associated with music and also the speech Ms. Aafiya Bcom ( G).
