On 23rd September 2020 Department of French had organized a Webinar on Google meet. Students from various colleges participated in the webinar. The Chief Guest of the day, Mrs S. Malarvizhi, Assistant Professor, Department of French , JBAS College for Women (S. I. E. T) Chennai, gave a lecture on “L'importance d’apprendre une langue – pourquoi le Français?” [Do we have to learn a language? Why French?] She discussed many topics which includes: difficulties in learning a language, opportunities for employees and various French apps. She also conducted a Quiz for the participants. The participants shared their opinions, thoughts and suggestions about the importance of learning a language.

Objective: To make the youth aware of the simplicity and high ideals of Mahatma Gandhi’s life.

On 2nd October 2020, to commemorate the 151st Birth Anniversary of the ‘Father of our Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi , who is a pioneer of truth and non-violence, the Department of Languages in collaboration with IQAC had organized an Inter -Departmental Competition for students on Google meet. The Chief Guest of the day, Mrs.Kanchana Sadagopan, Head, Value Education Department, Sevalaya, spoke about how to inculcate Gandhian Values and to sow seeds of a good human being and good citizen in students and also to make young students aware of Gandhiji’s principles and his contributions to India’s freedom. French Students were also encouraged to participate in the Elocution Competition topic “Gandhian Ideologies - The need of the hour”.

• Objective: To reinforce the students of Dr. Kalam’s contribution towards the nation.

On 13^th October 2020, in the memory of the 89th birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam , Department of Languages in collaboration with IQAC had organized the Inter -Departmental Elocution & Essay writing Competitions. The Topic for the Essay Writing Competition was ‘Target 2020- Achieved & Yet to Achieve.’ & Elocution Competition was ‘Abdul Kalam from My Perspective’.

Dr. K. Preetha, Head & Department of Languages delivered a special address. She spoke about Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and how he struggled in his personal life before becoming a success. Dr. K. Preetha & Dr. J. Valli of Tamil Department were the judges for Tamil participants & Dr. A. Thasleem Banu, from Hindi Department & Mrs. Sandhya Mohanan from the French Department were the judges for English Participants.

On 5th November, the Department of French celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Albert Camus under the guidance of Mrs. P.Sandhya Mohanan, Assistant Professor with 1st yr students at 9:50 to 10:30 am on Google meet. The first and second year students participated enthusiastically in the Quiz which was conducted by the SHANETTE SEAMAN ( BBA). PPT Presentation was by Aafiyah Banu M.S (B .Com General) Video Presentation was by Srinisha.V (B.Com General)

On 7th November 2020, the Department of French organized “Halloween Day” between 4 and 5.30 pm via Google meet. Students of I & II year actively participated with many creative ideas like speech, singing, keyboard playing, quizzes, powerpoint presentation, face makeup etc.

On 21^st December 2020, the Department of French celebrated the Christmas and New Year Event with 1 & II year students through a Google meet at 4 pm.

Objective: To motivate the students to know more about the life of ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE.

On 25th December, the Department of Languages in association with IQAC had conducted an E – Quiz on AtalBihari Vajpayee’s Life and Achievements. On this ‘Good Governance Day, 25 questions had been posted for E- Quiz. There were a total of 181 responses.

On 8th January 2021, Department of French celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Simone de Beauvoir a French writer, philosophy,feminists, intellectual existentialist, political activist under the guidance of Mrs. P. Sandhya Mohanan, Assistant Professor with 1st yr students via Google meet.

on 25th FEBRUARY 2021, To Commemorate the 73^rd Birth Anniversary of Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu , Dr. J. Jayalalitha , the Department of Languages had conducted an Elocution Competition titled ‘ Dr. Jayalalitha’s Multifaceted Personality’ at 5.00 p.m through google meet.

On 26th FEBRUARY 2021 Department of French organized a Webinar on Google meet at 4 pm. The Chief Guest of the day, Mrs S.Jayalakshmi,Assistant Professor , Department of French ,Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain college for Women, Chennai, gave a lecture on “Translation: art, craft or science?”. She discussed many topics which included difficulties in learning a language, opportunities for employment and various French apps.

On 22nd March 2021, the Department of French had observed World Water Day for II Year Students via google meet. On this occasion, students participated & shared their views on the significance of water & its value.
