FAREWELL PARTY
The III year students of the Department of Commerce were given a farewell party on 26th May 2022.
The Farewell was arranged at Thomas Auditorium from 10:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. by the students of I & II B. Com. The program started with a bursting of balloons followed by refreshments, fun tasks, and enthusiastic dance programs by the juniors. Students were filled with mixed emotions as this was their last get-together at the college and cherished their unforgettable memories associated with the college.
VIVA VOCE
The Post Graduate and Research Department of Commerce conducted the viva voce for the final year students of Ⅱ M. Com on 19.05.2022. The project reports covered various topics in Finance, Human Resources Management, and Marketing. The External Examiner was Dr. Thothadri Assistant Professor and Research Supervisor, The New College, Chennai. Dr Thothadri evaluated the project reports of the students and highlighted the importance of developing job-related skills for entering into a successful career.
LIBRARY VISIT TO ANNA CENTENARY LIBRARY

OBJECTIVES OF LIBRARY SCAVENGER HUNT :
To select, evaluate and acquire library materials in varied formats to meet and respond to the needs of the diverse community.
To promote literacy and disseminate useful daily information to the students and encourage lifelong learning through its reading materials and resources.
An activity was given to the students to hunt the books that were available at Anna Centenary Library.
OUTCOME OF LIBRARY VISIT:
Students were able to gain knowledge and involved themselves to the fullest extent in participating in the activity. They came out with a good collection of books and quotes from various books.
PHOENIX MARKET CITY

OBJECTIVE:
To enrich the knowledge of the students by means of exploring the marketing world, business relations, and consumer behavior.
Nearly 44 students from I B. Com General ‘A’ enthusiastically took part in this research activity across almost all foreign and inland brands. There were interactions with the customers also.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO MATTUPETTY TEA FACTORY

Objectives:
Provide the opportunity to plan, organize and engage in an active learning experience both inside and outside the classroom.
To know the real working of the industry.
Helps to understand the dos and don’ts of industry practice.
The students of III B. Com (Gen) and I M.com visited Mattupetty Tea Factory at Mattupetty in Kerala and got to know many interesting facts related to the process of manufacturing tea. The tea museum preserves the aspects of the genesis and growth of tea plantations in Kerala. The factory houses curiosities, photographs, and machinery, depicting the points that contributed to Kerala’s flourishing tea industry. The different processes through which the tea is processed were witnessed by the students at various stages of the tea processing such as crushing, tearing, curling – and learning about the production of Kerala’s tea variants. Students were offered the purchase of various products in their outlet such as the RIPPLE TEA.
LONG TOUR

TRAVELS: Star Tourism
The Department organized a 3 days long tour from Chennai to Munnar. This was the first summer vacation for 86 students (72 – B.com (General), 14 M.Com) accompanied by 4 staff members in Kerala. The students and faculty visited the Ernakulam National Park, an industrial visit to Kannan Devan Hills Plantations Company Ltd, Matupatti dam, eco point, Cinnamon Gardens spices plantation, Cheeyappara Falls and the famous Athirappilly Falls.
SPECIAL LECTURE ON GOODS AND SERVICE TAX(GST)-CONCEPTS & COMPONENTS

The Guest Lecture was conducted by the department for the II B.Com General students. Dr. S.Varadharaj, Head, Research Advisor in Commerce, Government College, Perumbakkam, was the resource person of the program. He gave clear insights into the basic concepts of GST using Mind Map. He also explained GST rates, exceptions, CGST, SGST, and IGST. Around 130 students benefitted from this Guest Lecture.
COMMERCE TALKS ON BUDGET 2022

COMMERCE TALKS was organized on the topic, "Impact of Russia and Ukraine war on India", under the guidance of Mrs. R. Rajalakshmi, Head, Department of Commerce, and faculty in charge, Mrs. Bhagyashree S.Wanle. Presentation, images, and videos were presented on screen. The event was started with a welcome address by Ms. Jerusha and then the participants presented their presentations. Finally, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Head of the Department praised all the participants and shared her views on the students' presentation.
WHEEL OF COMMERCE

The Department organized an Inter-departmental E-quiz competition "WHEEL OF COMMERCE". The session was held on 11th March 2022 in which the students from commerce background actively participated. The event was conducted by COMMERCIOS to encourage students to gain knowledge about laws and ethics, business mathematics, and economics apart from those in the syllabus. The competition was conducted through google forms and students who secured above 80% were awarded an E-certificate.
Outcome of the event:
It is a very informative and knowledge-enriching competition for the participants.
The virtual platform-based competition gave a better experience to the participants.
WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION
“Where there is a woman there is magic.” The Women’s Day celebration took place on 8th March 2021. To brighten up this special day, students from the department presented a dance performance to mixed music and a ramp walk. In addition, in each of the classes, in the presence of the faculty, a discussion was held based on #breakthebias which enhanced the speaking skills and knowledge on various relevant topics.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
OBJECTIVE:
To expose the students to experiential learning on the functioning of companies.
An Industrial Visit to GT Products located at Ernakuppam Village, Vadamadurai, Thiruvallur District was organised on the 25th of February 2022 for the students of II B.Com (General). Totally, 131 students visited the Manufacturing unit of GT Products and 3 Faculty members of the Department accompanied them. The students learnt how charcoal and sawdust was converted to aromatic incense sticks, dhoop sticks and dhoop powder. They also learnt about the mixing of various raw materials into a pulverizer, drying of the mixture, and after drying how it is being converted and packaged. The Industrial Visit was a learning experience for the students as it made them aware of how industries bring the product into the market for sale.
OUTCOME:
The students were able to fully understand how raw material is getting converted into a finished product through various processes.
ONE DAY TOUR - QUEENSLAND AMUSEMENT PARK

OBJECTIVES:
To plan and organize activities.
To learn money management skills
To work efficiently in teams.
Students of Commerce were taken for one day trip to Queensland on 25 February 2022. A total of 132 students from III B. Com (General) Section ‘A’ & ‘B’ and M. Com accompanied by 7 staff members. From Money collection, bus arrangement, purchasing tickets, and taking students’ attendance to maintain discipline, the trip was planned and organized by the student coordinators of III B.Com (General).
OUTCOME:
The tour gave students a refreshing, enlightening, adventurous experience along with added skills like money management, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, etc..
CHRISTMAS DAY CELEBRATION

The Christmas celebrations took place on the college campus on 18th December 2021. On Christmas day, a special event was conducted on the college campus. The celebrations included a rhythmic performance from the department of commerce and an add-on surprise package by Santa Claus.

The Department organized ‘BLACK DAY’ to commemorate - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25. This day was established by the UN General Assembly in 1993. It defines violence against women as an act of gender-based violence that results in physical, sexual, or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats, etc.
The students and faculty members were asked to dress in Black and there were group discussions on several topics relating to the problems faced by women currently.

CERTIFICATE COURSE - TALLY ERP 9 WITH GST
The Department in collaboration with ALB Multimedia conducted Tally ERP 9 with GST course for III B. Com (General) students. The course for the first Batch commenced from 27.09.2021 to 13.10.2021 with a total strength of 23 students and the second Batch commenced from 25th October 2021 to 10th of December 2021 with a total strength of 16 students. Enrolled students completed the course successfully and were given certificates.

FRESHERS' ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

An Orientation program for the freshers of B. Com. (General) students was organised at the JJK auditorium on 04.10.21. The objective of the program was to make the students aware of the academic aspects of the Programme and the rules and regulations of the College. The students were then shown a brief presentation about the mission and vision of the college, introducing the Deans, the Heads of various departments, the student council, and a variety of facilities offered by the college. Faculty in charges of the department, an introduction about the department activities, intercollegiate competitions, and interdepartmental programs, an introduction about the cultural activities, interdepartmental competitions, and inter-collegiate events, an introduction about the sports events and achievements of the department and a brief introduction about all the clubs in the college were also presented on the occasion.

On Teacher's Day, the students of the III year did something special for the professors by giving them balloons to burst. The session was made lively and interactive by the speaker. The webinar was an eye-opening session for the students of B.Com to choose their future course of action.

There were two sessions; the first session was held on August 5, 2021 in which the second year students participated and the second session was held on August 6th in which the III years participated. A total of 80 students participated from both the years. The students were addressed by the Guest Speaker Mr. C. Krishna Prasad who is the founder and director of Good feelings and Oneness Sports Academy. The Guest covered a lot of areas where women are facing a lot of challenges and mentioned that women are the strongest creatures. There was also an interactive session where the students asked about their doubts which were clarified by the Guest Speaker.
