Objective: To recognize the achievements of the students and to present the annual report of the department.

Report: The Department day was celebrated on 27/3/2023 from 1 pm to 4 pm. Mrs K.Swarna, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Accounting & Finance, presented the annual report of the department. Around 150 participants were present for this event. And all the students achievers were recognized & awarded for their good work. This day brought everyone together and gave a sense of unity and exhibited the strength of the department. Students were very excited & got motivated with all the recognition & appreciation showered on them. This department day gave a lot of insights to all the students about their department and the good work done.

Outcome: The annual report was read and the students were felicitated for their excellent work.

Objective: The industrial visit is an opportunity to demonstrate the career prospects available in the industry to the students and also aid the company to pick exceptional candidates for their company.

Report: An industrial visit was organized on 24/3/2023 from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm to Hatsun Agro Product Ltd, in Kancheepuram. Around 50 students participated in this and got a lot of exposure to the functionings of the industries. Students were able to experience an industrial environment and also understood the various opportunities available in such Industries.  

Outcome: Students took the opportunity and visited Hatsun Agro Product Limited and learned its organisation and functioning

Objective: The objective of this activity was to sensitize the students about the problems faced by the elderly, learn how to respect them, care for them and listen to their experiences and their advice.

Report: As a part of the social welfare activity of the department a visit was organized to an old age home on 16/3/2023 from 10 am to 12 noon. Around 31 participants & 4 faculty members took part in this event. This visit served as a platform for the students to get sensitized regarding the expectations & problems faced by the elderly people. The Department of A&F took an initiative and contributed and provided 52 kgs of Rice bags, 4 kgs of Dhal and 140 biscuit pack to the old age home.

Outcome: Students understood the need to respect & care for them and also to spend time with such people & to listen to their experiences and their advice.

Objective: To offer an opportunity to showcase the talents of the students and to develop the field of expertise.

Report: An inter-departmental competition was organized on 10/3/23 from 9 am to 1 pm for all the students of B.Com. & BBA. This event created an opportunity to showcase the talents of the students and also served as a very good platform for participative and experiential learning. Many students participated in a very active & enthusiastic manner and benefitted greatly on the whole. Various events were organized to test the talents of the students and also to build unity & organizing skills among the students. 

Outcome: Students participated in many competitions and learned more about team work.

Objective: To guide the students about business ideas and educate them to start a business - to start small and think big.

Report: A guest lecture was organized on 9/3/2023 from 10.00 am to 11:30 am on the topic "Business Ideation". Dr.P.S.Manjula, Asst.Prof. Dept. of Management Studies, University of Madras, was the resource person. Around 118 participants took part in this programme. This guest lecture gave a lot of insights into idea generation and the awareness on the starting of business. Many students benefitted through this programme greatly. 

Outcome: Many students were able to make ideas for starting a new business and promoting it.

Objective: To enable the students to relax and encourage the students for all their work.

Report: A one day trip was organized by the department on 28/2/2023 from 8am to 5pm to MGM Dizzee world. Totally 45 students enrolled for this trip & 2 faculty members accompanied them. Students were given an opportunity to spend more time with their friends and to learn more about the outside world. Students were made to understand the need for sharing & caring and to develop the unity among themselves. 

Outcome: It provided the students a chance to be together and practise team work in the outside world.

Objective: To develop women entrepreneurs and to make students earn while they learn.

Report: In order to develop the creativity skills of the students a course on Aari work was conducted for all the students of the college. Many students actively participated in this course and benefited. This course was conducted from 10/1/2023 to 16/2/2023 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm (20 days). Through this programme students were able to develop their creativity & entrepreneurial skills. 

Outcome: Students were able to reorient their skills into earning power and earn while they learn.

Objective: To develop women entrepreneurs and to make students earn while they learn. 

Report: As an initiative to encourage students with entrepreneurial skills a Mehendi course was conducted for all the students of our college. This course was conducted from 10/1/2023 to 16/2/2023 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm (20 days). All together 50 participants participated in this course and greatly benefited. Through this programme students were able to develop their entrepreneurial & creativity skills. 

Outcome: Students were able to design on their own and they built an ability to become an entrepreneur and earn while they learn.

Objective: To understand the environment through experiential learning and explore Indian historical monuments. 

Report: As a part of the curriculum an environmental field trip was organized on 15/2/2023 from 9 am to 2 pm for the second year students to Mahabalipuram. Students were given an opportunity to move close with nature and to learn more about nature and our environment. Around 54 students & 2 faculty participated in this trip. Students witnessed the historical stone monuments, the remaining shore temple and  thoroughly enjoyed the trip with a lot of enthusiasm and interest. 

Outcome: Students understood more about the historical Indian monuments.

Objective:  This was to create an awareness about the stream of Forex market and to guide the students on how to invest in Forex market and earn profit.

Report: As an initiative to create an awareness about the foreign exchange Market among the students, an awareness programme was conducted on 03/2/2023 between 2pm to 3pm. An attempt was made to encourage the students to actively participate in the Forex market and to earn profit. Students greatly benefitted through this programme and also got interested in learning about the Forex market. 

Outcome: Many students were interested in Forex market and learned how it works.

OBJECTIVE: The main purpose of visiting the trade fair was to represent the College through a good business model. 

REPORT: As an initiative to motivate entrepreneurship among the students, students with entrepreneurial skills & interest were taken to the Tradefair on 28/1/2023 from 2 pm to 7 pm to participate in it and to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills. Tradefair  was an open platform with a lot of exposure and learning. Students exhibited different business models and created an awareness among the general public and were greatly appreciated by many of them and also received a very good feedback. 

OUTCOME: The experience was very good and useful in terms of learning what real marketing and negotiation looks like. We were able to recognise what we capable of. The experience taught many things.

Objective: The main objective of conducting an educational trip for students is to reinforce experiential and contextual learning. This exposes students to different lifestyles, places and ethos.

Report: A long trip was arranged for the final year students to Munar, Cochin & Athirapalley falls from 19/9/2022 to 23/9/2022 as an initiative to develop the individuality of the students. Students learnt to be independent and took care of themselves. Student developed certain personal skills like time management, proper communication, etc. On the whole it was a very enjoyable trip for the students and they also gained a lot of good memories.

Outcome: It provided them with an opportunity to collaborate with teachers, and integrate new perspectives with informal environments to enhance leaving initiatives.

Report: A guest lecture was organized on the topic Food, Lifestyle & Structural Balance on 13/9/2022 from 10am to 11am and around 101 participants benefitted through this. Dr. M. Mohammed Raffick, Naturopathy, Central Govt. certified Diabetic Educator & Mind-Body Science Educator, was the resource person for the session. He spoke about the balanced lifestyle of an individual and healthy food habits. 

Outcome: Students came to understand how a person should live a problem-free life.

Report: Fresher's talent meet was organized by the department on 12/9/2022 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. As an effort to motivate the first years to induct themselves into the college environment and to also showcase their talents and many freshers participated very actively. And through this programme the department was able to identify the talented students. 

Outcome: The students had the chance to showcase their talents.

Report: A guest lecture on self awareness & mental health was organized on 07/9/2022 from 10am to 11am. Dr.S.Sasikala, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Psychology, University of Madras, was the resource person and around 100 participants benefitted through this guest lecture. The significance of self awareness and mental health, was discussed by the resource person which gave an awareness to the students regarding the emotional well being and to control the body, mind & soul.

Objective: To raise awareness about the positive outcomes, including confidence, emotional well-being and improved communication and mental health.

Outcome: The students understood that mental health and self awareness of health and mind is very     important. They came to know how to control mind and body.

This day was utilized by the students to appreciate the work done by the teachers and to show their gratitude to their teachers. Students shared their feed back and also showcased their talents as a part of this celebration. 

Outcome: The students took this opportunity to thank their teachers who have contributed to their development.

Report: A Guest lecture was organized on recent trends in marketing on 1/9/22 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Dr S. Deva Prasanna Assistant Professor from the Postgraduate & Research Department of Commerce was the resource person recent. Marketing trends and the importance of utilizing the latest marketing approaches were elaborated upon and around 70 students benefitted from this. 

Outcome: The students of Accounting and Finance learned new information about marketing and understood the recent trends in marketing.

Mrs. Maria Vanitha Johnson, Human Resource and Business Development Manager was the resource  person. Around 100 students actively participated in this programme. The objective was to provide guidance and assistance for the students to achieve their career goals. To create awareness among students regarding available career options and help them in identifying their career objective. Students acquired the knowledge, information and experience necessary to identify career options and to make a career decision.

Objective: To show our solidarity towards the nation and our respect to the freedom fighters who gave their lives for our country's Independence.

Report: The 75th Independence Day Celebration was organized on 15/8/2022 from 9am to 12 noon for all the students of Accounting & Finance. This celebration was organized by the department for showing our solidarity towards the nation and to show our respect to the freedom fighters who gave their lives for the Independence of our nation. Many events were organized along with a panel discussion relating to the Independence Day. 

Outcome: Students came up with some ideas to celebrate Independence Day and conduct a panel discussion on the importance of Independence Day.

A Webinar was organized on the topic Robotics in Accounting & Finance on 12.08.2022 from 10 am to 11 am in an online mode. Dr. P.S. Buvaneswari, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Madras was the resource person. And around 30 advanced learners benefitted through this webinar. The objective was to make students gain knowledge on systematic recording of accounts and to know about computerized accounting system. Thus Students came to know more about computerized accounting system and robotics in accounting & finance.
