India observes ‘National Mathematics Day’ every year on 22nd December to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Mathematician, Mr. Srinivasa Ramanujan. The main objective behind the celebration was to raise awareness among the students about the importance of Mathematics for the growth of humanity. The celebration was held from 10th December 2021 to 18th December 2021.
The students from the Department of Mathematics created awareness among the higher secondary students of nearby schools on various concepts of Mathematics using models and charts. To make it more interactive various games were conducted in between the sessions.
Listed below are the schools visited, dates, and concepts handled by our students:

On account of Srinivasa Ramanujan's birth anniversary, the Department of Mathematics on 18th December 2021 in collaboration with the Centre for Student Development organised Math Games and Exhibitions of models and charts explaining the Mathematical concepts.
The following models were displayed by the students:
● Model of Surface and Volume of Cube and Cuboid.
● Flow Charts based on Remainder Theorem, Types of Polynomial and Algebraic Identities.
● Model-based on Chichen-Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world holding mathematical concepts such as Slope, Factorial Geometry, etc.
● Conducted interesting games such as Connection, Concept Based on Probability, etc.
The Principal, the faculty members, and the students from all the departments of the college visited the exhibition of models and charts. They also actively participated in the organised games.
Due to this, the students too had gained knowledge about the concept of Mathematics and were also given prizes for winning the games.

The Department of Mathematics organized a webinar on “Application of Fourier Series in Communication” to celebrate the 269th Birth Anniversary of the Mathematician Adrien-Marie Legendre, who is known for his ‘Legendre Polynomial and Legendre Transformation.’ Dr. B. Sivakumar, Professor, Department of Mathematics, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai was the Resource Person for the Webinar. He started the session by explaining how the concept of the ‘Fourier Series’ is applied in communications. He explained the waves of the odd and even functions graphically using the software ‘Geogebra App.’ He also explained how the communication waves decomposed into smaller units using the app, and explained in brief the concept of Fourier Legendre Series, analog to digital conversion by using ‘Fourier Series,’ common types of series expansions in terms of polynomials. Finally, he concluded the session with a note about the animations in ‘Fourier Series’ and gave some references about it.
