The objective of the department is to build corporate and entrepreneurial personality in students, who are mostly first generation learners, through quality education for their successful career.
The department of B.com (corporate secretaryship) was established in the year 1987. The demand for the course has been increasing and it is evident in the increase of the strength from 40 to 70 in 2008 and the resultant sanction of an additional section in 2012 with the equal strength (70+70) by the University of Madras. The department provides a thorough academic knowledge in accountancy (financial, corporate, cost and management), business laws and taxation. The department always strives to discover and enhance the students’ talent and skills by arranging for several guest lectures, seminars, workshops and making them participate in various competitions. The department takes care to inculcate ethical values into each student and also moulds them to face the challenges in the changing global scenario.
The course provides the students with an exposure to industrial operations through “institutional training” which helps them to acquire a practical knowledge of various operations that are carried out within the organization as well as an opportunity to learn the duties of a company secretary.
In order to meet the challenging needs of corporate environment, it is not just sufficient for a student to be sound theoretically but must also be exposed to the outer world to face practical situation. The Department fulfills its dream of inculcating group dynamics, human skills, and employable skills in the students through organizing various activities.
To expose students to meet the practical challenges in the current corporate scenario.
To let the students interact with business experts of industry.
To encourage students to become event managers.
To build self confidence and proactive approach.
