Industry 5.0 is the next phase of Industrial Revolution where people and machines work together harmoniously and intelligently. He also clearly explained the benefits of introducing single tax throughout the country.

The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with patrotic fervour at our College on January 26, 2023. The Republic Day Celebrations began with Flag Hoisting by our Principal Dr. S Sridevi, followed by the Republic Day address. The cultural events were hosted by the Department of B.Com. (Corporate Secretaryship) on the theme “Cultural Diversity of India”. To instill the significance of glorious events of India becoming a sovereign Republic, various Inter-departmental Competitions were conducted for the students on January 23, 2023. The students of B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship) staged a cultural show exhibiting the cultural diversity of India and the adoption of the Indian Constitution.

Com (CS) on 08-11-2022, on the topic “Fundamental Rights of Indian Constitution”. The Resource Person for the Seminar was CTTE alumna Advocate Mrs. Lekkha K. She spoke about the significance of the Constitution, organs of the Government, drafting of the Indian Constitution along with the nature, salient features, Preamble, and Fundamental rights with respect to the Constitution of India. Advocate Mrs. Lekkha also explained how rights and duties of every individual can help to become an effective citizen of the country. The session was very interactive.

The educational tour taken to Mysore and Coorg provided a great opportunity to learn in an informal environment, thus building long-lasting relationships with friends and teachers.
As a class we started to Mysore on 15/10/2022 in Kaveri Express at 9:15 pm. The train reached Mysore at 7:15am on 16/10/2022. After reaching Mysore, we got into bus and reached Hotel (Place of stay). 16/10/2022, we were taken to Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, located on the top of Chamundi Hills, the fierce form of Shakti held in reverence for centuries by the Maharajas of Mysuru. Then students were taken to Mysore Palace, a historical place known for its rich culture.
Next day we started to Coorg, and reached Palm valley Resort, after lunch we started to Irupur Falls, located in the midst of Brahmagiri Forest Range also a wildlife sanctuary and the falls, a breath taking sight to behold.
The next day we visited Dubare Elephant camp, the camp is open for elephant interaction from 9 am to 11:30 am. This camp has plenty of trained elephants, we also participated in activities like feeding elephants, also watched how elephants were given a scrub–bath in the river. We enjoyed coracle boat ride on the river Kaveri.
Our next visit to the Namdroling monastery popularly referred to as ‘The Golden Temple’ is one of the largest Tibetan settlements, established in 1963. The main entrance has an attractive four-story tower with a wheel with symbols of Buddhism. The main attractions are statues of lord Buddha, one can pray, meditate, give offerings. Every wall of the temple is covered with vibrant traditional Tibetan paintings, explaining the Tibetan culture.
After visiting the golden temple, we moved to railway station, and got into Kaveri express ,reached Chennai next morning.

A Guest Lecture on “Corporate Governance and Ethics” was organized by the department for the final year students, on October 26, 2022 at 12.30 pm in JJK Auditorium.
The resource person explained how corporate governance as a system operating in business and how they are directed and controlled. He stressed upon promoting fairness, transparency and accountability and how these elements help the company to distinguish themselves as these elements are also required as it helps the corporate to complete at the international level, enabling the country’s progress to the next level. The speaker also explained the OECD principles, how these recommendations pave for good practice in corporate behaviour to re-build and maintain public trust in companies and stock market.

On September 28, 2022 the Department of B. Com (CS) arranged for a Workshop on “Cyber Crime” for the final year students at the T. Thomas Auditorium. The resource person for the session was the successful alumnae Ms. Lekha Sri, B. Com (CS), M.Sc (Criminology), NET. The workshop was mainly focused on the exploration of various cyber crimes that are committed in today’s cyber space and how the innocent people become victims of these crimes unknowingly. Every cyber crime was explained with real-life case study. The entire session was very interactive as students raised a lot of pertinent questions relating to threatening calls, precautions to handle cyber space carefully, etc. Students found the workshop to be fruitful, informative and enlightening.

A Guest Lecture on “Corporate Social Responsibility” was organized by the department for the final year students, on October 27, 2022 at 12.30 pm in JJK Auditorium.
The resource person for the lecture was CS Santhanagopalan. J, a practising Company Secretary. He introduced the concept of CSR with its evolution in its legal and ethical perspectives. The various legal provisions of CSR were clearly discussed with sections. Later, he unravelled the different dimensions of CSR and its impact on business. The second part of the session was focused on the case studies related to major CSR activities undertaken by our Indian Companies like Infosys, TCS, HDFC, etc. These companies’ CSR Report and CSR Policy were shown and explained to the students directly from the respective company’s websites.

The Department of B. Com (CS) conducted a webinar on “Right to Information Act, 2005” to re-inforce the subject knowledge on Business Laws for the final year students, on September 24, 2022. The session was held through online mode in Google Meet platform at 10.30 am. The Guest speaker for the webinar was CS Nethra Jayasankaran, Partner, DB Law Chambers, LLP. The webinar gave a complete picture about the RTI Act, 2005, i.e., from the establishment, objectives, role and responsibility of CAPIO/APIO till the penalties. The resource person asserted that RTI Act through its transparency empowers the citizens to question the functioning of public/government officials but also contain the corruption at all levels. A demo was shown in the middle of the session for who, how and where to file RTI. The online portal for making RTI application was also projected. The question and answer part post the presentation enabled the students to get clarity in RTI Act.

Department of B.Com (CS) arranged for an entertainment session on July 15, 2022. A movie was screened, “Spirit through Sports” for an audience of around 150 students from II & III years. Students enjoyed this arrangement as they had the pleasure of watching the movie with their friends in a different ambience.

Department of B.Com (CS) conducted Personal Grooming session for the II & III year students on July 14, 2022. The session was conducted by our Alumna Mrs. S. Saira Banu. She conducted one-on-one session and it was very useful to the students with low self-esteem and jobs seekers. She made a presentation on types of skin, benefits of facial, pedicure, manicure and gave a demonstration of makeup, hairdo and saree draping.

To spread awareness among students about the benefit of using eco friendly Paper Bags instead of Plastic Covers.
Outcome:
Students understood the hazardous impact of plastic bags in the environment.
Department of B.Com (CS) observed Paper Bag Day on July 13, 2022. On this day, students of the department made Paper Bags and handed over the same to the Vice Principal Dr. R. Meenakshi in order to distribute the same to the office use and sanitary purposes.

As a part of outreach programme Department of B. Com (CS) collaborated with THUVAKKAM, in conducting track and field Athletic Championship - 2022 on July 09, 2022. Our students volunteered for conducting the track and field events for kids at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. 12 Student volunteers participated in this program and received the Certificate.

Students were able to understand their social responsibility and how to create healthy environment.
The Department of B.Com.(CS) in association with NSS observed the World Environment Day on June 10, 2022 at the College campus. To create seriousness about the problems associated with environmental deterioration, an oath was administered to the faculty and students. The faculty and student representatives planted saplings to create a green corner. An awareness rally on" Say No To Plastic" was organised around the neighborhood and cloth bags were distributed to the public. 29 students participated in this rally.
