On 24.07.2023 Dance Club conducted interview for the students to become Student Coordinators for Western and Indian dance clubs. The interview was conducted by Dr. D. Ezhilarasi (Faculty in charge of the dance club )at 2:30 pm. Around 19 students attended the interview. Dr. D. Ezhilarasi selected the most appropriate students to be the student coordinators for Indian and Western dances.
EVENT NAME: FLASH MOB
VENUE: COLLEGE GROUND
Report:
On August 1, 2023, the banner was launched for the cultural events namely Kalakiran and Chainika. Students performed flash mobs as a start for the cultural events. Performance by students created a sense of feeling for the students to participate in the culture, the performance motivated the students, especially the freshers. As the banner launch took place the students delivered a stellar performance.
EVENT NAME: WESTERN DANCE

REPORT:
Kalakiran and Chainika were events which gave a space for the students to showcase their talent and enriched the minds of students. This year, the students were grouped into 4 houses namely: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. Grouping the students into houses helped the students to develop their communication skills and competitive spirit, and interactions between students from other departments increased. The Dance Club conducted events which included Retro dance, Western dance, Dances of India, Adapt-To-Tune and Replica. Through these events, the dance club was able to identify the talents and capabilities of several students.
RETRO (Group): 60s, 70s, 80s songs
OBJECTIVE: Bringing our old-age dance form to the students in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s causes them to recall and cherish our old dance styles. We recall and honour the legendary film stars and actresses with this retro dances.
WESTERN DANCE (Group):
OBJECTIVE: Western dance requires improved coordination, agility, and flexibility, better balance and spatial awareness increased physical self-assurance even though it is a foreign style of dance, this round demonstrated the talent, energy level, and ability to dance in other countries' forms of dance as well. Around 41 students took part in the Western dance event.
DANCES OF INDIA(Group)
OBJECTIVE: Dance of India celebrates all state’s tradition of dance and this round makes the students to know about other state’s traditional form of dances. Considering the cultural significance of our country, art forms have no bounds to display their vibrant performance. The folk dances of India are much more than mere body movements, and are respected at a great level. From the very ancient times the classical dance forms of India is considered as a discipline and a way to devote oneself to God through art.
Adapt To Tune
Adapt to Tune is an event where multiple song bytes were played, and students were expected to perform on the spot. Many stellar performances were delivered by the students.
REPLICA (Group):
OBJECTIVE: A replica is an event where a clip of a video song will be played in the background, and the participants are expected to deliver a ‘replica’ of the same performance in the video clip. Though the event may look straightforward, delivering every nuance of the video clip is not an easy task. The participants of every event were enthusiastic, and all the performances were stellar. The coordinators were hard-working and determined throughout the event.

Onam celebration of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women was held on August 31, 2023, Thursday at 1:30 pm. With these wonderful things happening, the Dance Club is proud to say that we were also a part of this wonderful celebration. Our club chooses dance forms which include Mohiniyattam(group), classical dance (solo), and Western dance (group).

On November 9, 2023, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College For Women spectacularly hosted a Diwali celebration. Students were allowed to burst crackers on the campus of the college with all the safety measures in place. The dance performance took place after the inauguration of a new stage. Students who participated were from the Department of Commerce and the Department of Corporate Secretaryship.
