Introduction:
The Civics/American Government Curriculum for 10th grade is set out by the CT Social Studies Standards- Approved Draft . According to Section 10-221a of the Connecticut General Statutes "no local or regional board of education shall permit any student to graduate from high school or grant a diploma to any student who has not satisfactorily completed...at least one-half credit course on civics and American Government." Through the investigation and analysis of primary and secondary sources, students have the opportunity to think and engage in the study of civic processes, rules, and laws; examine civic and political institutions; and apply civic virtues and democratic principles.
