My experience during this pandemic has been like a roller coaster with many ups, downs, twists, and turns, but all roller coasters have to stop at one point. However, my roller coaster is still going. Cultural climate has affected me emotionally and physically because it makes me upset when I see protests around the world that I am not able to attend because of Covid. These experiences have made me sad seeing other individuals harm others for the color of their skin, race, and religion. 2020 was a horrible year, but I still had hope on New Year’s Eve for 2021. Little did I know the first week of 2021 was full of chaos. The first week of 2021 we have had Trump supporters storming the Capitol building in Washington after months of the US President riling them up by saying the election results were a fraud. North Korea threatened to build more nukes and called the U.S. their biggest enemy. There was a Texas power grid failure; I was on vacation there when it happened. It was very cold because it just finished snowing that same week. There was no heat or water. Also the Atlanta Spa shootings when 8 people including 5 Asians were killed. It’s hate toward Asia and a reminder we still have fear and hate in this world. The hate needs to stop. God bless America.
