This week's plans link:
Accelerated Reader: Your child is required to earn 10 AR points by reading and taking the comprehension test on the computer at school. Books can be read at school or home for this assignment. To count for credit, AR book levels will be shared at the beginning of each nine weeks and increase through the year. NO reading articles will count towards the AR points. Class read alouds, novel studies, and the Wonders Reading Program will also be permitted to help with the AR goals. Your child should strive to earn their 10 AR points independently. An AR Goal Contract will be sent home at the beginning of each nine weeks. This is a graded assignment each nine weeks. School wide prizes and recognition will be given at the Awards Ceremony each nine weeks as well.
IXL: IXL is an online program that will be assigned in Reading and Grammar each week. The weekly assignments are due on Friday of each week by 4:00 PM, unless otherwise specified. Each assignment is worth 5 points and is given a grade based on the child’s percentage earned on that assignment. The IXL assignments are on skills that are review or learned in class in a computer type format. This will be helpful for the online PSSA tests in the spring. Students are encouraged to watch a lesson video, if applicable, prior to answering questions to review the skill. The IXL program has your child practice the skills starting at a Level 1 and moving up to a Level 4 where your child will earn 100%. IXL assignments can be completed in school and at home. Workroom will be assigned if your child is not completing the assignments.
Star Reading: STAR Reading is an online reading diagnostic test to help provide insight to how your child is as a reader. This assessment will be given in class to help with reading levels for AR book levels.
