Here food is served to guests in their allotted rooms in hotels. Small orders are served in trays.
Major meals are taken to the room on trolleys. The guest places his order with the room service order taker. The waiter receives the order and transmits the same to the kitchen.

Rooms Service Department
It is generally a sub division of Food and Beverage Department.

This position demands practical working experience in the room service department and at the same time managerial and administrative skills and knowledge.
They sell and serve parties in suites along with other responsibilities.
In case when no parties are taking place, at that time they work as supervisors dispatching orders and inspecting tables.

They deliver the food to guests’ rooms.
They should be hard-working, and professional but friendly and cheerful. They get enough chances to make a lasting impression on guests.
Order Takers
They are the first contact between the guest and the room service department.
They are salespeople and are knowledgeable about the ingredients of dishes, the daily chef’s special, the names of mixed drinks, the wine list, how much time needed to be served, cooking preparation, etc.
He should be a good listeners.
He should have guest complaint handling competencies since they are the first persons who have to handle complaints of anything goes wrong related to room service
Room Service Cashier
They are from outside of the room service department.
He works for the Accounting Department and is not part of room service but must be easily accessible to the room servers since checks must be posted as quickly as possible.
