The purpose of this website is to develop a shared understanding of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the College of Saint Scholastica, including DNP Practice Experiences and The DNP Scholarly Project. It is designed for faculty, current students, and community partners.
The DNP degree at the College of Saint Scholastica prepares nursing leaders who can lead health care change and advance population health. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) provides the framework for ensuring innovation and excellence in academic nursing.
The AACN Essential Domains (2021) outline the DNP degree expectations. In addition to completing a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum (see Bachelor’s to Doctor of Nursing Practice and Post-Graduate Doctor of Nursing Practice on the CSS website), candidates for the DNP degree implement an evidence-based DNP Scholarly Project addressing population health from a systems perspective. Lastly, candidates participate in various DNP Practice Experiences that integrate the AACN Essential Domains and Competencies into advanced nursing practice.
