Summer 2018 Information

On-Campus Accommodations

Low cost housing is available on campus during the workshop for an additional fee. Participants will be housed in shared student apartments on campus in Scanlon Hall. Each apartment includes 4 bedrooms with a shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Housing costs for a single bedroom in the shared apartment will be $25/night or, $75 for 3 nights and $125 for 5 nights.

Dining Options

What will be provided?

Meals | A light breakfast (yogurt, fruits, granola bars, etc.) and snacks will be provided each day. Teachers are welcome to dine on or off campus if they would like a heartier breakfast or bring their own snacks during breaks. A catered lunch will be available each day. Breakfast and lunch will include options for gluten-free and vegetarian diets. Dinner will also be provided.

Traveling to Minnesota | Need to Know

Arranging Flights | Mobile CSP will be working with a local travel agent to arrange travel. After registration has been confirmed, teachers will receive information via email for arranging their flight to Duluth.

Weather | The weather in Duluth can vary with temperatures in the 50's at night and in the 80's during the day. Please bring layers and a light jacket. All classrooms are air-conditioned, but other spaces on campus may not be air conditioned.

MWA Planetarium (1.1 miles from campus)

Located on the main UMD campus, the planetarium has served Duluth for 50 years as a fun and educational resource for school groups from preschool to college.

The Duluth Experience (2.4 miles from campus)

Arrange a tour to bike through the city, spend some time on Lake Superior, and/or visit local shops and breweries.

Zero Hour Escape Rooms (2.7 miles from campus)

Grab a group of your new friends from the PD and head over to challenge yourself in an escape room.

North Shore Scenic Railroad (2.9 miles from campus)

Enjoy a pizza and drink as you take a ride up Minnesota's beautiful and stunning north shore.

S.S. William A. Irvin Ore Boat Museum (3.1 miles from campus)

Come abroad and learn more about how iron ore has shaped the Duluth area.

Canal Park (3.1 miles from campus)

Soak up local restaurants, shops, attractions, and entertainment. Check out the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge and watch the ships come in.

Great Lakes Aquarium (3.4 miles from campus)

See all the beautiful species of exotic and local fish then go watch the otters and other animals frolic.

Enger Park and Tower (3.9 miles from campus)

Climb to the top of the tower and check out the stunning 360 degree view of Duluth and the surrounding areas.
