Go Outside — It takes 7-10 days to get acclimated to the heat. We spend one block a day outside for Pre-Camp and two blocks a day at Band Camp. Go outside and get some activity in.
Hydrate — start building the habit of drinking plenty of water (if you don’t already). For the sake of your body, no energy drinks or other sugary drinks. Only water and booster provided drinks are permitted at camp.
Eat — everyone eat something for breakfast. Lunch and dinner will be provided at Band Camp only. Bring a lunch for Pre-Camp. For the safety of the students, no one is allowed to leave campus for meals.
Play — if you taken some time off from your instrument this summer, start getting your playing chops back. Long tones, scales, and music are great places to start. Even a little bit of playing helps.
Prepare — The more physically and musically prepared you are, the more successful you and the entire group will be. Remember that great individuals and great organizations START STRONG and START FAST.
The caretakers have been working hard to prepare for our camp. To make their jobs easy each day we're here and to ensure an efficient turnaround for athletics and school the following weeks, please adhere to the following:
Please only use areas needed for camp. Our areas are the Band Room, Choir Room, Fine Arts Wing, Gym, Auditorium, Cafeteria, grand halls, and side halls. No one should be in classrooms that are not Fine Arts; no one should be down the halls of the Y.
If eating inside, please only eat in the cafeteria. Dispose of all waste properly.
Please only use the restrooms by the auditorium, Fine Arts Wing, and Stadium. All other restrooms are cleaned and prepped for school.
Please use the shoe brushes when coming in from the stadium. They do help limit turf from being tracked.
At the end of the day, please leave the building as soon as possible so we can all go home and get ready for the next day.
Students should park or get dropped off in the staff lot and enter Door 13. For your safety during construction, please avoid the front lot and drop off loop. The back lot is only for staff and directors.
Remember that we share this building with others. Leave spaces better than you found them and represent the band well!

Marching Greyhounds – A Legacy of Excellence
Known as the Carmel Marching Greyhounds, the ensemble averages ~300 members.
The Greyhounds are six-time Bands of America Grand National Champions (2005, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022) and have made the Grand National Finals in 26 consecutive years through 2022, the longest active streak in the nation.
They have also earned six ISSMA State Championships and reached 32 state finals.
Notable Achievements & Performances
Swept all three caption awards (Music, Visual & General Effect) as the only group in BOA history to do so in Grand Nationals, doing so twice—including in 2022’s championship show called “Vitruvian.” That season featured over 650 hours of rehearsal and earned Carmel its sixth Grand National title.
Represented Indiana in high-profile performances, including the 2011 and 2022 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades, 2014 Rose Parade (Pasadena), and the 2004 London New Year’s Parade. In 2007, the group performed aboard the USS Missouri alongside Hawaii’s Royal Band.
Concert & Jazz Ensembles
Carmel’s top concert ensemble, Wind Symphony I, is a 7‑time ISSMA State Champion and has performed at prestigious festivals, including the Midwest Clinic, Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, and the CBDNA North Central Division Conference.
Their jazz program is also highly regarded, featuring multiple ensembles that compete at regional festivals and perform community events like the annual Jazz a‑la Mode and Jazz Expressions concerts.
Winter Guard & Color Guard
The World Guard has won the WGI Scholastic World Class Championship five times (latest in 2023), and eight IHSCGA State Championships. Their A Guard has also won multiple WGI regional titles and state championships.
Both the marching-season color guard and winter guards are celebrated for technical precision, expressive choreography, and visual artistry.
