HOW PARENTS CAN HELP AT HOME WITH WRITING
Encourage your child to write every day using a range of motivations. Writing can be either in a book or on a device. Google Docs is best for writing on a device.
Children can write:
Letters or emails to family and friends.
A diary of what happens each day.
Narratives - made up stories with a setting, characters and plot.
Notes to family members.
Recipes.
Signs for their bedroom.
Labels and lists.
Some other motivations - retell a story or experience, use your five senses and explain what you saw, heard, felt, tasted, magazine pictures, topics of interest to your family, instructions and procedures.
