Not yet. The CTE Center serves 10th–12th graders.
Students will attend their home campus for most of the day and travel to the CTE Center for two class periods.
Possibly. There are schedule change deadlines that you need to be aware of. Also, availability depends on space, prerequisites, and scheduling.

There are no fees associated with courses at the CTE Center.
Automotive, Ag Mech, Construction, & Welding - students will need to wear clothing that protects them during their learning activities.
Cosmetology - students will have a specified dress code according to TDLR. Cosmetology is unique in the fact that students will need a kit for all their supplies. These kits will stay with the student throughout high school, and they will take it with them upon graduation. These kits will be available for students to purchase.
Automotive - many mechanics consider owning their own business, so students will take a course to learn about that as an option.
Cosmetology - Cosmetologists run their own business, they can take that Entrepreneurship course, but they will also learn business specifics during their Cosmetology 1 and Cosmetology 2 courses.
Welding - many welders consider owning their own business, so students will take a course to learn about that as an option.
District transportation will be provided between campuses. CSISD will provide free transportation from each home campus. Yes. Students will ride district buses to and from the CTE Center during their scheduled periods.
A CSISD bus will pick up students from their home campus at a designated location and specified time to transport them to the CTE Center. A bus will then return them to their home campus at the end of their 2-period class at the CTE Center.
About two class periods (roughly a quarter of the school day).
Students will need 2 periods for most courses at the CTE Center. Bryan CTEC was significantly farther away, and that required an additional period for transportation in order for that to work. Cosmetology 1 and Cosmetology 2 will both be three-period classes.
We will offer three different (2-period) blocks throughout the day. The counselors will schedule them into the block periods that work best for their schedule.
Yes. Class and lunch schedules will align so students can eat at their home school. There is not a cafeteria at the CTE Center since it is not a full campus.
There are lockers and girls and boys locker rooms/bathrooms! Each student will have their own locker assigned to them near their class/program.

Yes! Students remain enrolled at their home campus and continue all extracurriculars. We will offer three different (2-period) blocks throughout the day to accommodate kids in football, baseball, etc. This will accommodate many students who have a 1-period conflict.
No. Counselors will help students build schedules that balance CTE and academic classes. With the CTE Center offering three different (2-period) block options for scheduling, this will accommodate many students who may have a 1-period conflict. If a student has multiple conflicts, decisions will have to be made by the student.
All labs meet industry safety standards, and students will receive safety training and equipment. Students will be tested on their safety training and held to a high standard of wearing PPE and practicing safe protocols while at the CTE Center.
Programs may require specific clothing for safety purposes. Details will be shared during registration. Most tools and equipment will be provided.
Cosmetology kits will be available for purchase.
Yes. Many programs include internship or practicum experiences in partnership with local employers as an option during that Practicum level course.
Yes, this program will be for Barbering and Cosmetology students. Barbering is built into the Cosmetology essential knowledge and skills that are taught in those courses.
No! All students in the Cosmetology program will learn about hair, nails, toes, facials, etc. They learn and practice it ALL, then when they open their own business upon graduation, they can decide which services they offer.
Yes. Students gain skills, certifications, and connections that prepare them for employment or further training. There are career and employability objectives in every CTE course.
Some programs may offer dual credit opportunities through partner colleges. Blinn must credential the teachers, so this could vary based on the teacher of record.
Yes. CSISD partners with local businesses and organizations to align programs with workforce needs.
Yes. Certifications are statewide or nationally recognized, depending on the program.

Start exploring career interests in Xello and plan for introductory CTE courses in high school. Map out your 5 year plan in Xello during your middle school years. Make sure you can get all of your required courses for graduation in each year and the courses you want in each year. Pass all of your classes!
