Your first and most important role is to choose an awesome topic and project. Additionally, you should make a plan to meet all deadlines and write journals that document your progress about four times a month. In seven months, from August to February, you will:
establish a goal, an action plan and success criteria
apply Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills throughout the project process
gather evidence of how you have applied ATL skills throughout your Personal Project
evaluate your Project based on your success criteria
select evidence to add to your report
reflect on the impact of your Project
write a report
You will have support throughout completion of the personal project through your personal project supervisor, your 3rd-period Tools for Success teacher. You will meet with your supervisor as a class or in small groups at least two times each month during project supervision time. Your supervisor will
Help you refine your topic
Help you make sure your topic is “do-able”
Guide you in planning, researching and completing your project
Ensure that your work is authentic
Ensure that your project is ethical
Help you understand how the project will be assessed
Give you feedback on each aspect of your project
Communicate deadlines
Assess your Personal Project
The coordinator, Ms. Green, will work with supervisors to design lessons that give students the information they need in the best possible format, typically administered through Formative.com. The coordinator also serves as the final voice of whether a project is approved. If you have any questions about the project, you should ask your supervisor first. He or she will refer you to the coordinator for further support, if necessary.
