Marching Band Staff

Joining us for her first year with the Prairie Percussion line is Noelle Buck.  Noelle is a Cedar Rapids Prairie Alum.  Noelle was a Percussion Captain her senior year in the marching band.

From Noelle:

"I’m currently a Music Education major at Coe College, and I’m loving my experiences there so far. I graduated from Prairie and spent most of my time there in the music department playing percussion in almost all of the ensembles. I also love riding horses and spend my summers as a horse camp counselor! I’m super excited to be back!"

Michele Formanek is in her 29th year as a Color Guard Instructor with the Prairie Hawks.  She is a proud Prairie alum and former guard captainShe also performed with the “Nite Express” Drum & Bugle Corps in Cedar Rapids.

Kate Lefebure Kate is joining us for her second year with the Prairie Hawks as an Assistant Instructor for the Color Guard. She is a former member of the UTHS Marching Panthers Color Guard where she spent 4 years on the line, 2 years on the weapons line, and her senior year as co-captain. Brock Davenport is the current 2024 incoming percussion instructor for this upcoming marching band season. He is born and raised in Cedar Rapids and went to Jefferson High School where he played in the drumline for 3 years. After high school he attended Kirkwood Community College for a few semesters before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa where he played in the Panther Marching Band for 2 years.  He graduated from UNI in 2019 with a degree in music. Since 2015 he has taught percussion at Mount Vernon High School where we have won multiple outstanding percussion awards. He has also given private percussion lessons on the side during that time. His goals this year are to create a culture that strives for excellence,  develop students into outstanding players, and of course, have fun! In his free time he likes to read and write, watch movies, golf (even though I’m not that good at it), and hang out with friends. I look forward to this upcoming season and working with each and every one of you!
