This first year in TLIIST we have been exposed to leadership training, discussions, and research. These activities took the form of a bookstudy of Every Teacher is a Leader, class leadership prentations, and a practice action research project. While all of these exercises were useful and thought provoking, the one thing that I put into immediate use was the "Results- Based Meeting" information. The department meetings that I conducted this year using a printed agenda, time limits, scripted participant roles, and assigned action items were both participatory and productive. Sharing the leadership role with my colleages in these meetings seemed to successfully reinforce the importance our collective input.
