I was honored and humbled to receive a 2019 KETA from the Kinder Foundation. A total of twelve Houston-area teachers received the award at the fall ceremony.
Cristo Rey Jesuit made a much needed adjustment to its administrative structure by going to a completely department-based leadership team for the 2020-21 school year. The duties of the Department Content Specialsts and the Teacher Coaches were merged. My responsibilities as Department Chair will encompass duties, such as: teacher coaching and evaluation, development of annual budget, textbook selection, determining scope and sequence of all courses, facilitating peer collaboration and cross-curricular integration, providing science resources, planning professional development, and conducting regular department meetings. We have already started our work planning for next year.
Cristo Rey Jesuit holds regular grade level meetings in order to better support our students and to provide regularly scheduled cross-curricular dicussion and collaboration. This year I am part of the junior grade level team. We will continue to meet remotely until the end of the school year.
