Between brick walls and orange-yellow lockers,
Walk students in proper uniform, walking, laughing,
And chattering through the halls
Teachers, inspiring, handing out wisdom,
A guide for most students' future
Classrooms, full of desks, and filled with
students with in-depth knowledge.
Students are the future of this future.
A building based on a disciplined structure
A school full of students with
dreams and aspirations to conquer.
As they enter, they are seeds
But, later through time, prosper and grow
Author's Commentary
What inspired me to write this poem was simply being at school. I had an Ambassador tour the day before writing the poem. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to write about, but I thought it was relevant enough, and it was something I could easily write about. Before I started to write the poem, I wrote down ten words relevant to the school and what I would be writing about. I liked the words I had chosen, as I felt like they represented the school well. The way I structured my poem was, I first introduced the walls of the school, then the students, the teachers, the classrooms then the building. I mentioned these aspects of the school, as they were the themes of my poem, the different aspects and features that make Cristo Rey, Cristo Rey.
