Description: Our music program, Melodies in Motion, teaches music through games and mini-lessons to neurodivergent children - the students get to try different instruments, learn more about rhythm and melodies, and play music games. Many opportunities for music are limited to them because music lessons and programs are structured with neurotypical learning in mind - we want to spread our passion for music and grow their appreciation for music so that they can experience the joy of music. This summer, our Melodies in Motion program held a summer camp at the JCC's Guttenberg Center for Special Services, and we are continuing it this year on every Sunday. Our "Munch Mates" program provides social opportunities for neurodiverse people to socialize and learn social skills and "Play Pals" includes recreational activities such as sports and indoor games. Our podcast, All Kinds of Minds: Neurodiversity in Our World, aims to reduce the stigma around neurodiversity by interviewing neurodivergent individuals, their parents, and the people that work with them. In sharing what neurodiversity is like and getting rid of common misperceptions, we are breaking down the stigma that surrounds neurodiversity. In spreading awareness about neurodiversity, we hope to reach a point where neurodiverse individuals are treated equally and given equal opportunities to thrive. We have also been actively posting infographics and pictures on our Instagram and TikTok (@welcomeneurodiversity) to spread more awareness about different neurodevelopmental disorders and hope to continue throughout this year. This upcoming year, we are hoping to post more on our blog, produce podcast episodes more regularly, start our newsletter program, hold fundraisers for specific neurodiverse children/adults, and kickstart our tutoring/instrumental lesson program. Additionally, the CSI House would love to have more people over for eating/hanging out/parties/cooking/baking, and the students there would love to have more people come hang out with them.
