The Journey
The Journey
An annual festival, where schools from across the Middle East are invited to come together and share their Dance work.
PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE: THE JOURNEY OF BSME DANCE
BSME Dance was founded by Cranleigh Abu Dhabi in 2017 in conjunction with The British Schools of Middle East team. When this journey started and ideas became a reality, the foundations were built on the following questions:
How can we develop and promote the arena of Dance in the Middle East?
How can we bring young learners together through the medium of Dance?
How can we share and develop understanding of diversity and culture to learn about each other to ensure we share a common purpose?
BSME Dance was born. We are extremely proud of the work that schools have produced over the previous years as part of the BSME Dance program. The unique, diverse and innovative responses has allowed dancers from around the Middle East to come together and share a common understanding that Dance can be a language of the world. We have used Dance to bring communities together. Through the platform of Dance we highlight that our differences make us stronger and ignite us with a passion to make a difference in this world by expressing ourselves. BSME Dance is about young learners questioning, collaborating, creating and discussing. It is more than the outcome of the performance, it's about the process and the journey. The power comes from young people learning from each other, sparking debating and creating choreographic material that symbolizes their feelings, values and beliefs. Their reflections are sparked through their choice of actions and their performance highlights an innate pull to express a meaningful message to their audience and beyond.
