Cranberry High School Hosts a Walk on School Day
Written by Joie Carbaugh & Elena Garland | September 13, 2025
On Thursday, September 9th, Cranberry High School hosted a Walk AT School Day. With a few adjustments and the assistance of health teacher Melanie Oliver and participating students, Cranberry Area School District successfully made it a memorable event.
¨It is not as good as [the typical] Walk to School day,” noted tenth-grader Colby Fry, ¨I liked when all the grades were together, and we walked on a big road. That was way better.”
Another student, Conner Zerbe, a senior at Cranberry High school, said that the event could be improved by “Making the walk be more inclusive and not just keeping one grade” together.
Zerbe offered the idea to have “High school, middle school…just to keep kids interacting.”
Regardless of the grouping and timing, Zerbe noted that it made school more enjoyable: “It's something we can keep doing. I think it's something that's very easy to do, and it lets me bond with my friends as well as give me more happiness in the day.”
Along with Walk to/at School Day, Crana club hosts Apple Crunch Day, the YMCA Program, Move It Outside Day, and Wellness Wednesdays.
