Thanksgiving Tradition Continues at Cranberry

“I’m so happy we are happy to keep this tradition and take it on the road to the families in the district,” stated Kim Daugherty, Food Service Director. “It is a big undertaking, but our staff is well organized and loved doing it for the kids.”

As a continuation of the usual tradition, the cafeteria staff handed out 378 Thanksgiving dinners consisting of turkey, mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, cranberry sauce, gravy, roll, stuffing, and a slice of pumpkin pie or carrot cake.

Cranberry district faculty and staff ordered Thanksgiving dinners in advance to not miss out on the annual tradition.

302 students received meals from the distribution locations at Cranberry Area Jr./Sr. High School, Pin Oak Village, Seneca Acres, Rhodes Country Court, Pinegrove Firehall, and Rockland Firehall. Another 78 meals were purchased by Cranberry’s faculty and staff.

This continuation of the tradition resulted in positive feedback from faculty, the students and their families. One mother took a picture and stated that she was excited they were able to enjoy this meal while feeling a connection to the school.

This was all made possible as a result of the dedicated cafeteria staff who produced close to 400 meals.

Special thanks goes to Kim Daugherty, Marlene Sottiaux, and Kari Borland who delivered the meals today as they do every day.

Meals will continue to be distributed Monday through Friday unless it is a scheduled school day off. Each student within the district is eligible to receive a breakfast and a hot lunch.
