Talent in Transit

On October 11th, 2019, the Transit Art Gallery & Gifts reopened under the leadership of Christine Manning and the support of the Oil City Arts Council.

The Gallery originally started over 20 years ago but was just recently revived by Christine, who had taken over in September of this year.

When asked about the importance of the gallery, Christine stated, “It is very important. It is a good place for artists in the community to have a venue to sell their works. It is a bridge between the community and the artists. We try and work as a junction between them.”

She joined the Oil City Arts Council not as an artist, but as an appreciator of what she had seen others create.

In her own words, she is a photographer and a writer, and she volunteered at some events. That led to her becoming a part of the board of directors in the council.

Aside from artists displaying their work, Christine hopes to bring the artists and the community closer by making the general public aware of different art shows and events in the future. She wants to get the artists’ voices out there.
