Safe Driving 2019

A subject as simple as driving doesn’t inherently have a dangerous connotation, but it isn’t difficult to imagine how operating a two ton machine, rolling at around 45 miles per hour on average, could somehow be alarming. 

When we drive, we have the responsibility of every other driver, passenger, and pedestrian on our shoulders. Any publicity of such a message is more than appropriate in a building full of new drivers. 

The chance of a student being involved in an accident within their first year of driving is around 60%. The odds and experience is not in our favor. 

The videos made by journalism are under exaggerated versions of a real life crash, but they’re underwhelming compared to the true consequences of unsafe driving. 

They showcase the voices of our peers and what the student body stands for using realistic situations. It’s easier for other kids to get involved when they see upperclassmen so enthusiastic about such an important cause. 

Sit down, buckle up, silence your phone, get your music ready before you take off, and keep in mind that you’re important. Your life matters, and your loved ones are grateful every time you make a decision that improves your safety. 

Cranberry High School and the journalism class are just a few entities that have made an attempt to aid students’ decision making while driving.
