Coming up on the 2023-2024 season, the Cranberry Girls Softball team is getting a head start. Unlike every other year, the girls softball players will play in the fall ball league games at the Hiendl Memorial Fields in Dubois.

Before their season officially begins in the Spring, the association has decided to prepare athletes for the upcoming season by playing fall ball.

“This will be a great opportunity for us to grow as a family and a winning team,” says Denali Wenner.

Some players and coaches brought this up years ago as something that could be done for extra practice before the season and get a look at the competition.

Fall ball began on the 17th of September and will continue every Sunday until the 1st of October. The girls participating play these three Sundays in a row; each Sunday consists of two or more games around nearby schools, some of which they may see during the season, including Moniteau, Clarion, DCC, Rebank, and Johnsonburg.

Cranberry students participating in Fall ball include Raquel Knight, Morgan McKinley, Alaina Olson, Hannah Kearns, Gracee Hess, Danica Wenner, Keelie Schneider, Cassie Scarbrough, Denali Wenner, Mackaylah Smith, and Karli Schneider.

According to Senior Mackaylah Smith, “I think that it is going to give us more practice and ready us for this year's Spring season”.
