Cranberry Hosts Vex IQ

Cranberry hosted an open Vex IQ tournament on February 5.  Attending the competition were teams from schools such as Franklin, Dubois, Rocky Grove, Redbank and both East and West Forrest. The competition took place in the gym for a portion of the day. As put by Mr. Vonada, “The whole concept of what the kids are doing is awesome”. Franklin won the competition with their two teams while Cranberry came in second overall but won both the skills and design competitions. Dubois won the excellence award and Rocky Grove took home the judges award. East Forrest got the sportsmanship award. All of the schools who won awards also qualified for states. In the words of Mr.Bedee and Mr. O’Brien, the two teachers in charge of robotics at Cranberry, the competition “went really smooth”, though it was Cranberry’s first time hosting an event like this. The two teachers also said that they “Couldn’t be more proud” of their students.
