Berry Botics is Back in Business

Many clubs at Cranberry Junior Senior High School are back in session, and this year, Cranberry’s very own Berry Botics will be tackling demolition in the BEST Robotics challenge.

On Saturday, September 11, members of the robotics team and their advisors Mrs. Mitchell and Mr. Bedee traveled to Grove City College where they were introduced to the competition’s objectives. The title of this year’s game is “Demo Daze,” and the team has been tasked with building and marketing a robot designed to assist with the takedown of infrastructure as well as the cleanup associated with demolition.

Last year, the members of Berry Botics were unable to participate in the competition as a result of Cranberry’s transition to a virtual learning model. However, now that school is back in session, the team is more prepared and motivated than ever before.

As said by Ady Carter, Cranberry junior and member of the marketing team, “I’m excited to see everything come together and for both the marketing and build teams’ work to pay off. We really hope to achieve our goal and win this year!”

Soon, the team will travel to Ross Park Mall on October 9 to test out their robot on the course before the actual competition which is scheduled to be held on October 22 and 23 at Grove City College. Until then, the team will undoubtedly be working to their full potential.
