Welcome to Chance Elementary!
Welcome to kindergarten at Chance Elementary!
There are two mottos that often guide our school:
'Where Panthers Begin' and 'Work Hard, Play Hard'.
CES is 'Where Panthers Begin' as the foundation for essential skills. This foundation continues as they move through our building into 2nd grade. We are excited to build a relationship with you to create an enjoyable, rewarding, and challenging adventure for your child.
Oftentimes throughout the year you will notice 'fun' special days and activities we plan for the students. You'll also notice the amount of growth and learning that occurs in kindergarten. We work to create an age-appropriate balance between working hard and playing hard. For this age level, play can be just as important and crucial for learning essential social skills as working towards their academic goals. Your child will work hard throughout each day, but we also embed and carve out time to play hard.
Students have increased potential to succeed at a faster rate if they receive additional practice at home. Please continue to work with your child at home throughout the year as teachers send home information.
We can't wait to see your child on the first day of school, August 25th, for your child to participate in a memorable kindergarten year.
CES Principal,
Dr. Tiffani Shuman
What do I need to do for my child to enter kindergarten?
This website should serve as a one-stop shop for all directions and steps you will need to have your student fully registered for kindergarten before the 1st day of school on August 25, 2026.
This website will be updated continuously as we move closer to August 2026. We will add information as it becomes ready. When student registration for the district opens for the 26-27 school year, we will add that information in a tab on this site.
Please review the tabs at the top of the site for further information.
Follow these tabs at the top:
Set up a screening.
Work on updated immunizations for kindergarten.
Register for summer school.
Review Kindergarten Entrance Expectations as a guide for what you can work on with your child from now until kindergarten.
Class Requests
As you start to think ahead to your child's kindergarten year, please note, CES does not provide parents with a formal process for requesting a teacher. Our staff considers multiple factors when creating a class list to create the best learning environment for all students.
However, because you have been your child’s first teacher, you may have an opinion as to the learning environment in which your child might best learn. If so, you are welcome to communicate this with Dr. Shuman through email at tiffani.shuman@cr6.org before kindergarten summer school is completed. However, we cannot make any formal promises due to so many moving parts.
Lastly, if you have a student(s) your child may not learn best with in the same class for different reasons (being close family, neighbors, past daycare friends, etc.) please email Dr. Shuman.
*We do utilize summer school to help get to know the students. Class lists are finalized the 2nd week of summer school (last week of June). Please email Dr. Shuman before the 2nd week of June.
