LOCOMOTOR LICENSE 🚗

Throughout these 4 weeks leading up to winter break, Children's House students are going to focus on Locomotor Movements.

These are different ways to move (i.e. skip, gallop, jump). Their goal is to earn a Locomotor License at the end of this unit. Be on the lookout for it in their home-folders just before winter break.

 ORIENTEERING                 🗺️

Students work in pairs to read a map, then follow it in real life.

Cones are placed throughout the gym or the park with a landmark close-by. Students have to orient the map (rotate it so that it matched real life) and go to each cone in order.

Students use a chip reader, and tap it on the cones as they go. At the end of their course, they electronically check their progress!

    ICE SKATING! ⛸️

Tobin Lower El students had the awesome opportunity to tour and skate on at same practice facility as the Boston Bruins!

Those students who never skated before were given some lessons, and those students who already knew how to skate were given some free skate time.

💪 Muscular puzzles!

Kids are hard at work learning the scientific names for the bones and muscles of the human body.

Students were divided into small groups, used their relay race team skills, and built a body system puzzle!

Mirror Mirror

Hello Tobin Tigers!

First, get your daily workout in with a quick warm up before our main activity!

Second, check out "Mirror Mirror," an activity which requires focus and concentration trying to move your body to match what you see on the video screen

Whatever movement you see on the screen, try to match it with your body. Also, when you hear the music stop, freeze your body and hold it still until you hear the music again.

Have fun and focus!
