Applied Design combines aesthetics, design, client needs, and finding practical solutions to problems. This is an area in which design and aesthetics come together to create something new that is functional and useful. During these applied design installations, scholars engage in all levels of the design process: understanding the client need, brainstorming, concept development, creation, actualization, prototyping, production, and finally the installation.
