For the first time, PCA cheer will be attending cheer camp! Even though it's not the glorious sleep-away camp that every cheerleader loves, we won't be going it alone! This summer, we will be bonding, learning, training, eating and having fun with our cheer sisters over at Lane Tech high school. The best part about camp is all of the friendships and memories that are made. Yeah, we're going to grow athletically, but building that bond that leads into the fall semester...you can't beat that.
Spending 5 days surrounded by people who love their sport and love being happy is the best way to kick off summer. There's this constant flow of support and sportsmanship that we just don't get anywhere else. The worst part about cheer camp is leaving cheer camp. Going back into this gloomy world where no one cares for a smile or a pat on the back or a friendly, "you can do this!" we trying a new skill. But, that's what I love so much about cheer. No matter the school, we are all here for each other (with a smile).
Cheers!

Before COVID, April was such an important month for PCA cheer — tryouts.
There would be 3 days of clinics and 2 days of tryouts. We would look for students who not only wanted to be leaders at Prosser and have fun, but also athletes. After our first season of ever competing at the city level, our school was so pumped for our comeback.
Cheer camp over summer, cheering at our first football game, training competitions and taking a chance at Illinois cheer sectionals for the first time in Prosser history. This was going to be our year.
Chicago Public School (CPS) moved our season to spring (understandable, due to COVID), but didn’t inform us until 1 week before all required documents were due. We didn’t make it in time. We watched our cheer sisters and brothers have an amazing time... virtually.
Well, "summer contact" days have been approved by CPS and we have until June to get it together. This may not have been our year, but we’re going to take it anyway.
Never underestimate the new kids on the block.
Cheers!

It seems so unreal that last year we were building a team from nothing and attended our first competition. Mainly because, this time last year, we were designing a new uniform, learning to tumble, planning a fundraiser for our choreography fee and now we literally have nothing.
While I'm trying to figure out the future of Prosser Cheer (number of athletes, what summer conditioning will look like, cheering at football games for the first time in who knows how long,) I wondered about the teams that came before us. Who were they? What was the team's culture? Were they important to the school? How did they represent Prosser? Where are they now?
With the help of Principal Shimon, I started looking through the old yearbooks for good ol' fashioned research and here's a journey into what I've found.
I wasn't even alive when this photo was taken, but the class of 1985 was so full of life! This yearbook makes it seem like everyday was the best day ever and I wish I were there.
sooo cute!
Push it, push it, push it!
MUST recreate this!
Can't forget Poms Squad!
We don't deserve PCA Cheer '85... pure perfection
Does it look like they enjoyed drafting class?
What do I have to do to get my hands on that?
Cheers!
