Hello Pre-K Families,
Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend with your family and loved ones. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Tessa via email: twilhelm@cps.edu.
Weekly Announcements:
Blue folders will begin to be sent home every day with your child. There is a side labeled "Keep at Home" and a side labeled "Bring To School". Important papers from the office or the classroom will be placed in there daily, and if you have any paperwork for us, such as sick notes, you may place them in there.
Our next Local School Council meeting is Wednesday, September 3rd from 5:30-7pm. You can come to Orozco in person or login online; if you come in person please be on time as no one will be monitoring the door after 5:30
Please do not send your child with toys in their backpack. They will be able to bring a toy in for show and tell every Friday in the Second Quarter of school.

Anuncios Semanales:
Las carpetas azules comenzarán a enviarse a casa todos los días con su hijo/a. Hay un lado marcado "Dejar en casa" y un lado marcado "Traer a la escuela". Todos los días se colocarán allí papeles importantes de la oficina o del salón, y si usted tiene algún documento para nosotros, como notas médicas, puede colocarlos allí también.
Nuestra próxima reunión del Consejo Escolar Local será el miércoles 3 de septiembre de 5:30 a 7:00 p.m. Puede venir a Orozco en persona o ingresar en línea; si viene en persona, por favor llegue a tiempo ya que después de las 5:30 no habrá nadie en la puerta.
Por favor no manden su hijo/a con juguetes en la mochila. Podrá traer un juguete para mostrarlo todos los viernes del segundo trimestre escolar.

Social Emotional Learning
Aprendizaje Social y Emocional
This week, the students are continuing their learning about the different emotions they may feel as they get used to being at school. We are talking about how to recognize these emotions and positive ways to express them in the classroom. We are also learning about what it looks like to be a good student and good friend. We also encourage you to talk at home about the emotions your children feel when coming to school and what it means to them to be a student and friend, as this helps reinforce what we are learning in class.
Esta semana, los estudiantes continúan aprendiendo sobre las diferentes emociones que pueden sentir mientras se acostumbran a estar en la escuela. Estamos hablando sobre cómo reconocer estas emociones y maneras positivas de expresarlas en el salón de clases. También estamos aprendiendo cómo se ve ser un buen estudiante y un buen amigo. Le animamos a que en casa también hablen sobre las emociones que sienten sus hijos al venir a la escuela y lo que significa para ellos ser estudiante y amigo, ya que esto ayuda a reforzar lo que estamos aprendiendo en clase.

Friday/Viernes: The Adventures of Gary and Harry
This week, we will also begin the letter of the week! In the morning, we follow the Estrellita Preschool Spanish Curriculum and will be focusing on the letter A, and in the afternoon, we follow Jolly Phonics and will be focusing on the letter A. We encourage you to practice at home by finding objects that start with these letters to reinforce what we are learning in class.
¡Esta semana también comenzaremos con la letra de la semana! En la mañana seguimos el currículo de Estrellita Preschool en español y estaremos trabajando con la letra A. En la tarde seguimos el programa de Jolly Phonics y estaremos trabajando con la letra A. Los invitamos a practicar en casa buscando objetos que comiencen con estas letras para reforzar lo que aprendemos en clase.

Matematicas
Over the next few weeks, our teachers will be working one-on-one with each student to complete beginning-of-the-year assessments in both Math and English Language Arts. These assessments help us understand where each child is starting so we can best support their learning and growth.
Activities will include:
Identifying the letters in their first name
Recognizing and counting numbers 1–10
Tracing their first names
For our returning students, we will begin practicing tracing both their first and last names.
Durante las próximas semanas, las maestras estarán trabajando uno a uno con cada estudiante para realizar las evaluaciones de comienzo de año en las áreas de Matemáticas y Artes del Lenguaje en Inglés. Estas evaluaciones nos ayudan a entender en qué nivel se encuentra cada niño(a) para poder apoyar mejor su aprendizaje y desarrollo.
Las actividades incluirán:
Identificar las letras de su nombre
Reconocer y contar los números del 1 al 10
Trazar su nombre de pila
Los estudiantes que regresan comenzarán a practicar el trazo de su nombre y apellido.
