Welcome to our classroom website. This site will be a resource you can visit for links to resources to help you and your child as you work through 3rd grade.
Third grade is such an important year and we (students, teachers, and parents) are a team that will need to rely on each other to ensure success. The fact that you've already come to visit our classroom website is proof that you're willing to do your part! Excellent work!
I sincerely look forward to working with you all and turning this year into an opportunity to exceed all expectations and to make third grade the most dynamic experience!
We've got this!
We explore so many fantastic concepts in third grade!
In reading, we use the Into Reading curriculum to practice literacy skills and critical thinking through a variety of texts.
In math, we cover multiplication, division, fractions, telling-time, measurement, graphs, and much more. The program we use is called Skyline and its digital math components are meant to challenge your child and help them become a critical thinker.
In science, we focus on concepts such as Balance and Forces, Weather and Climate, Inheritance and Traits, and Environments and Survival.
In social studies, our focus for the year is "Communities, Near and Far.'
Additionally, students in our class will begin to learn the foundations of computer science by studying the parts of a computer, how data is transferred, and learning to use block-based coding programs.
There are several programs that we might utilize. All of these can be used at home! These programs include:
Khan Academy
IXL
Freckle
Achieve 3000
NewsEla
Padlet
Wonderopolis
Prodigy Math
Code.org
Flocabulary
FlipGrid
Our third grade class was invited for a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Paul Sereno's Fossil Lab at the University of Chicago a few years back.
How did we get such an exclusive invitation? It was all thanks to our classmate Robert and Dinology, the fantastic website he build as part of a class project. We sent it to archeologist Paul Sereno and he was so impressed that he insisted Robert and his classmates come for a visit!
See Robert's website and learn more about our visit here:

Do you have a hard time forming complete sentences? Maybe you have a noun deficiency! Watch this "commercial" to learn more about what might be missing from your daily diet.
The video above was produced by the third grade students in room 102 using only an iPad and a green cloth. The segments were recorded using an app called Green Screen by Do Ink which allows us to "key out" the color green and insert our own images and videos in the place of the cloth (and anything else green). Keep an eye out for the student with the green zipper on his jacket! Finally, we assembled all of the clips in iMovie where we were also able to add music and animation.
Though there are several ways to contact me, my preferred mode of communication is through a program called Remind because it allows me to receive alerts right to my phone. All parents of students in my classroom should sign up to make sure we can communicate with ease. When you register to our classroom Remind, you will receive classroom updates, calendar changes, and other important messages instantly! Please see me for the access code.
