In order to ensure fairness and continuity throughout our school, all classes are graded according to the same categories. 

Formative assessments are the assignments completed in class. Since they make up the bulk of what we do, they weigh the heaviest in our scale. Summative assessments are the tests, quizzes and projects that demonstrate mastery of a skill. Homework is the nightly practice and review of the specific daily skills. 

Late work is only accepted in the case of student absence. 

The lowest grade in Reading will be dropped before finalizing grades at the end of each quarter.

Aspen Parent Portal is the most effective way to keep on top of your student's grades. It is updated several times each week. Since every family and student have different expectations, it is wise to set a trigger to alert you when a grade falls below your own acceptable level. We are lucky to have a constant means of communication about grades at our fingertips, but it only works if you log on regularly!
