Welcome to back to a new week! This week, I have many new activities and for some of you I would like you to revisit past activities to stay active. I have new challenges that I hope many of you are accepting. Remember, it's very important to stay physically active for your physical, mental, and SEL health. I want everyone to try and be active at least 150 minutes a week or at least 30 minutes, 5 days a weeks. In those 30 minutes, I would recommend that your activity is challenging enough to make you feel like you're working hard but not hard enough where you feel it's impossible or you might injure yourself.
Below, I have uploaded an RPE scale which was designed to help people self-evaluate how hard they are working. Please scroll down and read about this scale. If you have any questions or are confused about the scale and how it works, you can email me at ppac@cps.edu.
This week, I want all to try and work hard enough to feel like levels 4-8!

RPE stands for Rate of Perceived Exertion. This means how hard in you felt an activity was after completing it.
We could also use these charts to try and challenge ourselves to work harder. This week I want everyone to try and challenge yourselves by working to feel like levels 4-8 when doing your PE assignments or if you're doing you own activity. When you work in theses levels you will feel like your breathing is heavier, you're breathing faster, like an activity was hard but you could still do it, you're sweating more, or your muscles are burning. I really want everyone to challenge themselves this week. If you have any questions about these scales please contact me at ppac@cps.edu and we can discuss more about it. This might be new to many of you but it is a great tool to gauge how hard you are working
Thank you, have fun, and stay safe!
Welcome to May the 4th, this week I have uploaded lots of new resources/activities for you to get physically active at home and with your family! Thank you to everyones responses and for using all the resources on my website to stay active. My website is not the only way for everyone to be physically active. Lots of you have ways to get up and move and I encourage you to do so. For me, I enjoy working out, playing catch, and practicing volleyball skills. These get my blood flowing because I really get into them and work hard at getting better. But I also enjoying woodworking and completing home projects. These are all ways I stay physically active and work my mind throughout the day.
Why is it important for you to stay physically active? Studies show that being physically active helps relieve stress, helps you sleep better, raises level of oxytocin which is responsible for making people feel happy, and also helps you learn better. These are just a few of the benefits for getting up and being physically active every day. I encourage everyone to find your play.
