Mrs. Concepcion, Science, Room 205, email: jbiancalana@cps.edu
My name is Joanna Biancalana-Concepcion and I am the 7th grade science teacher. This is my third year at Armstrong and my 8th year teaching in Chicago Public Schools. I have fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming a teacher and I am loving it. I have had many teachers throughout my education that have made a difference in my life and I hope I can now be that for my students. I have always been fascinated by the world around me and want to share my knowledge and curiosity with students and help them to develop their curiosity through hands-on experiments, rich discussions, and collaborative projects. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy bike riding, hiking, building things, and exploring. I am excited to start this school year and look forward to building relationships with my students and their families.
Mr. Yehl, Reading, Room 207, email: bmyehl@cps.edu
Hello. My Name is Brian Yehl. I am the 7th grade reading teacher at G. Armstrong. I have taught here for 18 years and previously taught for 3 years at Clinton Elementary. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education and am endorsed to teach middle school language arts. My goal is to foster a love of reading in the students I teach and to make them truly think about the world around them. I believe education is the key to growth as a person. I ask that parents help me to help their child in this endeavor. Please feel free to contact me via email at any time to let me know anything that you think I should know about your child or your child’s learning style.
