A pupil’s attendance register is a document that is marked every time school occurs, marking of the register must commence on the first day of the school year and conclude on the last day even if there are no students present. Markings should be reflected by / or 0 if the student is present or absent respectively. Time for the marking of registers will be allocated on the timetable with a maximum of fifteen minutes for each session. Each class comprises two separate registers (boys and girls). If a pupil has been absent for three months without notifying that he or she wishes to withdraw, an entry shall be made in the withdrawal column of the admission register and the student’s name shall not be re-written in the register for the next term. However, if the parent/guardian notifies the school of the withdrawal of the child either by writing or in person, the student shall be withdrawn immediately by drawing a line with red ink in the register from the last day of attendance until the end of the school term. At the beginning of each term, the names of the student must be entered in the register. If a pupil’s name must be entered into the register after the commencement of the term, a link must be drawn from the beginning of the term until his/her first attendance is recorded. Every register must be marked twice daily (once in the morning and again in the afternoon). If there is heavy rain on a particular day and attendance is significantly reduced, a footnote should be inserted and initialed by the teacher. Once the register has been closed, no attendance should be recorded.
