Hello, my name is Jenifer Toth. I am an elementary teacher in my fifth year of teaching. My first year of teaching I taught fourth grade, however this was also the year that COVID hit and I was unable to complete the year with those students. The following year, my entire district stayed virtual for the whole school year. As many teachers needed to do, I had to learn many different types of educational technology in a very short period of time. The following year I became a second grade teacher with great restrictions as we returned to school with multiple limitations. I have taught second grade ever since. These last few years have been difficult, however they have also taught me a great deal.
I joined the Cal State San Bernardino Instructional Design and Technology program in the Fall of 2022. At my school, other teachers come to me often about technology and how to use it. I have given trainings for specific programs that I figured out on my own. I chose to follow this path to increase my knowledge in instructional design and the use of technology in the classroom. When I learned of the IDT program, I felt that this program was calling me. I knew that instructional design would be extremely helpful to my teaching abilities. I hoped to learn more about how to incorporate technology into my lessons. Education will follow the path of technology and I hope to be able to follow that path.
By joining the IDT program, I hope to use what I have learned within the teaching field. I teach 2nd grade and want to use technology to differentiate between the gaps between student levels within my class. I also want to be able to help my colleagues by making suggestions in regards to technology.
