Improving Math Foundational Skills in Second Grade

This project was designed when a need was seen within my second grade classroom for math foundational skills.

Problem 

Second grade students are struggling greatly with their basic math skills such as counting to 120, counting on from a specified number, and understanding place value in regards to hundreds, tens, and ones. These skills are the foundations of math and are built on for years to come.

Opportunity

I will work with a small group of students on these foundational skills by providing students with tools that they can use to increase their self-concept in regards to math.

The project was broken up into three face-to-face modules. The project was completed up to the implementation stage. While a trial run was completed, there was not time to complete a full implementation though I look forward to using it in the future.
