Videogame Design offers a unique academic experience that blends creative expression with practical tech skills. This class goes beyond just playing games; it's about understanding and creating them. Students engage in hands-on projects, from digital art and music production to coding and game mechanics, fostering problem-solving skills and critical thinking. They learn about the real-world applications of technology, preparing them for future academic and career opportunities in various fields like computer science, engineering, and digital media. Our curriculum, tailored for 7th and 8th graders, emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and practical skill development, ensuring students not only excel academically but also discover exciting new ways to apply their knowledge in today's real world. This class is an adventure into a safe digital world in ROM's class setting, offering a balanced, enriching, and academically sound experience that nurtures both their intellectual growth and creative talents.

Career Pathway

Videogame Design class is an innovative technology pathway that aligns with computer engineering. This ROMS elective program focuses on exploring and developing cutting-edge technologies to help students use technology responsibly and efficiently. From the importance of digital citizenship to designing their own app, website and videogame, the class covers wide range of topics.  The class also covers artificial intelligence, video in technology, audio in technology, photography in technology, visual design, Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, virtual reality, and other emerging technologies.

The goal of an Videogame Design (Innovative Technology) class is to provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to new technologies, as well as to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills. The class may involve projects, case studies, and collaborations with industry experts or startups. It is often offered as part of a degree program in technology, engineering, or business.
