"J represented our Kalamazoo Community Foundaiton's Antiracist Transformation Team (ARTT) at monthly board meetings to provide context and learning. They helped lead the Governance Task Committee of the ARTT which identified racist governance practices and developed antidotes to move the organization forward. For example, KZCF replaced its board member nomination process from one that was closed to one that requests applications from community members. That has resulted in new board members being more representative of community.
J has a unique ability to bring people along on the journey of replacing DEI with antiracism. They inspire those new to the journey to want to participate. J’ s calm, clear communication style allows those who might otherwise be resistant to instead want to join in."
-Sue S., Vice President, Finance & Administration
"I have worked with a dozen or more facilitators on anti racism with my organization and J absolutely rises to the top of the list of facilitators that stand out. In addition to being incredibly knowledgeable on anti-racism work and all of the intersectionality that goes along with that, J creates a space for everyone. Folx can show up where ever they on their journey and be inspired to dig deeper. J brings a feeling of safety and compassion while also being direct and encouraging for those present to be brave."
-Stacey C., Donor Relations Coordinator
"J coordinated and ran a workshop hosted at the local food co-op on human trafficking featuring certain brands of chocolates, cheeses, and wines that are fair trade and didn't exploit their workers. J is an incredible facilitator - combining vast knowledge of the issue and incredible amounts of compassion for people that are directly affected as well as for those who want to make a difference. J is a consistent force for good in our region and I have seen firsthand how effective they are at empowering others to stand up and organize for justice."
-Tony N., Senior Institutional Relations Manager
"Thank you so much for spending time with our board last Thursday. I left that meeting feeling so much better about the world (something I haven't experienced in a long time). You've provided me with hope for the future. Words can not express my appreciation for what you did for our board and for me personally.
I wish you the best as you carry out your very important work. You made "hard work" so fun.
