A resolution approving specific use of cigarette tax.
WHEREAS, the City of Cordova, Alaska as the appropriate governing body, is desirous in the distribution of funds under the provision of AS 43.50.140, known as the Cigarette Tax Fund, and
WHEREAS, under the terms of this Statute, the funds are to be used for the exclusive purposes of major repair and rehabilitation, construction, insurance, and debt retirement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the funds distributed from the Cigarette Tax Fund will be used for the following purposes:
$2,500 - Capital Improvement Project Phase 1 Plan done by SERRC.
$35,000 - Major Repair/Rehabilitation: Work on walkway system over Mt. Eccles front stairway; a school crossing zone across the highway; roofs at Mt. Eccles and high school shop/home ec areas and high school garage doors.
Insurance Premiums.
FURTHER B E IT RESOLVED, that
The money received and spent will be accounted for in separate fund
The income derived from the investment of cigarette tax money will be credited to the fund and spent for the purposes described above
The disbursements will be made on upon the specific authorization of the local school board.

WHEREAS, the City of Cordova, Alaska previously passed Resolution 9-96-41 regarding expenditures of the Cigarette Tax Funds and has since received excess funds; and
WHEREAS, the Cordova School District has submitted an amended list of proposed expenditures to be funded by the surplus Cigarette Tax Funds,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution 9-96-41 is null and void and that the Cigarette Tax funds be used for the following purposes:
$2,500 - Capital Improvement Project Phase 1 Plan don by SERRC.
$35,000 - Major Repair/Rehabilitation: Work on walkway system over Mt. Eccles Front Stairway; a school crossing zone across the highway; roofs at Mt. Eccles and high school shop/home ec areas and high school garage doors.
Insurance Premiums.
$5,118 - Asbestos abatement.
$40,000 - Engineer studies for CIP study project.
$6,000 - Replacement compressor at high school.

School Board Proclamation
WHEREAS, the effective education of the youth of our community is dependent upon their environment and the total efforts of all members of the education system; and
WHEREAS, the classified school employees have the responsibility of providing the services to facilitate the educational process and have faithfully provided these services for students, teaching, and administrative staff; and
WHEREAS, it is proper that all citizens join with us in saluting the dedicated men and women who are the classified staff in our city schools; and
NOW THEREFORE, as Board Members of the Cordova City School District, we do hereby proclaim the week of November 4 through 8, 1996 as "Classified School Employee Week" in recognition of the vital services these school personnel have provided for the educational structure of our community.

A resolution of the Cordova School Board of Education at Cordova, Alaska, electing to participate in the Retirement Incentive Program, (Program) Chapter 65, SLA 1996, and authorizing Dr. LeRoy Key, Superintendent, to enter into an agreement with the administrator of the Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) to fund the cost of participating in the program.
