Moodle is the Learning Management System (LMS) that will be used to give you access to course content. More support for using Moodle can be found in the course Student Success with Online Tools.
In your browser, navigate to Moodle: https://bit.ly/330LmTa .
When you open the page, scroll down to "First Time I've Been Here" and click on Create New Account.
Create a Username and a password following the requirements listed.
Enter your email address. You may wish to create an email address just for Moodle to keep it separate from personal email.
Enter a first name. You do not need to use your legal name, and may use your name in the target language
Enter a last name. To avoid sharing personal identifiable information, we recommend using your target language as your last name.
**For example, a username could be brendaknorwegian; first name BrendaK, last name Norwegian.
Finish setting up your account by following the instructions in the confirmation email sent from From: Admin User (via ConcordiaMoodle) <noreply@moodle.cord.edu> to the address you entered.
Forward the confirmation email to Brenda Lund at blund@cord.edu when you have completed these steps so she can enroll you in your Moodle class.
Log in at https://bit.ly/DoD-CLV . You may wish to bookmark this link for use in the future. If that bookmark does not work, try: https://moodle.cord.edu/login/index.php?authcas=NOCAS&username=a
Type your username and password - typing it in works better than using the “saved” option
If you have problem logging in, contact the Joseph Kennedy at jkenned6@cord.edu
Once you have logged in, find links to your courses under the My Courses menu along the left hand side of your screen.
If the Navigation tray is not open, the hamburger menu (, top left) toggles the tray open and closed.
If you log in and do not find a link to your course:
The course may not yet be open to students, so be sure to check again after the first day of class, or ask your instructor. If you are still having problems, please contact Brenda Lund (blund@ cord.edu) or the IT Help Center, and notify your instructor so that we can help you and keep track of Moodle issues.
On a laptop or desktop computer, as the Navigation tray expands or collapses, the course page resizes to accommodate the tray.
The Sections in the center column is where your instructor posts information about the course, and provides links to resources and activities such as assignments you can access using Moodle. This main course content may be organized by week or by topic. Depending on how your instructor sets up the course, Sections may expand and collapse when you select the Section name, or Sections may always stay open.
Blocks appear on the right side when there is adequate screen space. On a narrow screen, Blocks move below the column of Sections. You can use Blocks to navigate within your course, see upcoming assignments, see a calendar, link to library resources, and more, depending on what your instructor has added to the course.
On smaller screens, when the Navigation tray is open it covers the course content. To view your course, toggle the Navigation tray closed (hamburger menu , top left).
Scroll down below the main course content to find the Blocks on smaller screens.
Submit assignments on time. It is possible for instructors to close assignments at deadlines. Consult the course syllabus for your instructor's policy on submitting late assignments.
Look for a confirmation screen to make sure your assignment is submitted. (This might look different depending on the kind of assignment.)
Know which file formats your instructor will accept (.pdf and .doc are usually preferred).
