Meals on Wheels Volunteer

(May - August 2019)

I volunteered for Meals on Wheels by delivering meals once a week to senior citizens throughout the Fargo area. I learned how important the Meals on Wheels organization is within our community as it provides nutritious meals for senior citizens. It ensures they have at least one balanced and nutritious meal a day.

Clinical Experience

(July 2019)

As part of my Clinical Experience Course, I shadowed a team of Registered Dietitians for a week at the CHI St. Joseph's Hospital. I learned the roles of dietitians within an in-patient hospital setting, an out-patient clinic setting, and an institutional management setting.

NDAND Conference

(March 2019)

I attended the North Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics symposium and expo during my junior year. I attended sessions that focused on of Medical Nutrition Therapy of various conditions, including cancer, diabetes, and eating disorders.

FNCE

(October 2018)

I attended the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo in Washington D.C. I attended educational sessions which covered topics focusing on Lifecycle Nutrition, Community Nutrition, and Clinical Nutrition.

Community Garden Volunteer

(May - August 2018)

I volunteered at the Growing Together Community Garden throughout the summer between my sophomore and junior year. The garden provided fresh produce for families throughout the summer. I assisted in watering, planting, and picking produce. It was an educational experience as I was able to learn more about growing produce. Additionally, families with various ethnicities were members of the garden, and I was able to learn of new food choices and dishes.

Kitchen Assistant

(May - August 2017)

During the summer between my freshman and sophomore year, I worked at Camp Emmaus as a counselor and a support staff. I worked as a kitchen assistant throughout the summer. I was able to gain experience in prepping food for mass quantifies, distributing food to mass quantities, and learn the dishwashing process.
