Coombe Boys' School adopts a whole school strategic approach to linking curriculum learning to careers.
Coombe Boys' School has worked with the Careers and Enterprise Company and have encouraged all curriculum departments to use a variety of curriculum related careers resources. During career weeks, all departments plan career-based lessons for all YR 7-13 students.
Coombe Boy's School looks to further promote careers through the curriculum through implementing the following strategies:
1.Develop links with local employers who are keen to further develop careers learning opportunities for students. The aim will be for every department to arrange career related trips / in school local employer talks / workshops within the academic year.
2. Yr 11 Prefects will become a Career Ambassadors for their allocated subject area, and lead on developing careers learning in their subject area
3. Focus on making the learning more applied by using real world examples or challenges, by linking with a local employer or employers
4. All subject areas having displays around the school that link their subject learning to different careers
5. Whole school ‘Careers Weeks’ where all teachers plan stand alone career related lessons for their classes.
